Hi, selling my 180sx as the bottom end bearing in the engine has let go and I'm at uni now so I have no money to fix it... I was previously a mechanic and still have access to a workshop, so all maintenance was done by myself. Car was cared for and serviced at 5k intervals at most. I think the engine let go due to not having a tune...

Car handles brilliantly and feels very solid for a close to 20 year old car. Way better then my last 2 180's. Owned it for about a year, bought it off a mechanic who did most of the mods on it. I have receipts for most of the work done/parts including the bushes. Only work I have done on the car, other than maintenance, is I had to rewire the ICE ignition system, whoever previously installed it did a shocking job.

All that needs to be done is install a new engine and ideally get a nistune or something similar. Would make a great P plater car. Full import papers provided as well. May have forgotten some stuff. If you have any questions call me (Tim) on 0433 046 780 and ill try to clear them up. I'm located in Campbelltown.

Modifications:

Steering and Suspension:

- HSD HS type coilovers.

- Whiteline front (adjustable) and rear swaybars.

- Whiteline camber bolt kit.

- Upper Rear Adjustable control arms (rose jointed).

- Adjustable front castor arms (rose jointed).

- Bushes replaced.

- Noltec subframe mounts and lock washers.

- GK tech aluminium steering shaft spacer.

- ROTA RB wheels 17x8. I think the rears are 8.5 inch wide. All tyres around 80% tread. Front = Nueton N8000 Rear = federal 595SS

Brakes:

- RDA Slotted rotors.

- Unknown pads, have never faded on me....

Engine

NOTE: Engine doesnt work, has done a bottom end bearing. With this basic setup it made ~150kw@the wheels at 14psi. Previous owner dynoed it at a TAFE.

- Fake carbonfibre airbox with K+N pod filter

- 2 Blow off valves (one stuck, one working)

- ICE ignitions system with bosch individual coil packs. I talked to the guys at JEM about it and apparently it is a good system for large power engines. I have no idea why it was on this car.

- Full 3 inch exhaust. Not too loud.

- Hybrid FMIC.

- Blitz Dual SBC boost controller.

- D1 spec oil catch can.

Body

The body is in reasonable condition, no rust and the car is straight. Small scrape at the LHR of the car (picture below) and the front end was too low and kept hitting the front bar up, due to this the front guards have started to tear up and the front bar isnt in great condition. (Pictures below). I have raised the car up since. Very dark tints. Has a mongoose M80 alarm system and central locking.

Interior

Late model interior (not type x) in good condition. The car will come with a JVC headunit that has a bluetooth attachment. (Bluetooth attachment isnt installed). Calcium deep cycle battery installed at the rear left of cabin. GK tech steering wheel with removable boss kit. A pillar boost gauge. "Super cool" blue dash surround :-p.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
    • Perhaps the answer is... more jacks!* *proper jacks must be used.
    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
