Hey guys, i recently found an r32 gts-t that has been converted to an rb25de to suit p-platers. Im assuming the guy was or is a p-plater as the motor came from his gts25.

Anyways, the engine has done 180,000k's and the chasis has done 142,000. Basically what i wanna know is, is it worth buying for $4900. How much longer do you think it will last assuming it has been thrashed a little bit? I could most likely knock off a few hundred aswell.

The guy also mentioned it needs a new alternator and is in need of a wheel alignment, and a few other minor things like new fluids, wire up reverse light switch, tiny bit of rust starting on rear windscreen etc. nothing major. The car is also not rego'd and in need of a blue slip.

What do you guys think? Should I do it? I'm really keen on a skyline.

sounds way to dear to me i mean its got alot of ks on it im guessing its half done sort of car and the motor was probably just chucked in his backyard and rust is not a simple thing to fix even if it is small its like cancer it will spread and as i work at a bodyworks rust is not a cheap thing to fix do you have any pictures of the car??

NA 32? I wouldn't pay more than $2.5k for it by the sounds of it. You could find a decent 33 GTS for that price, though NA 33's aren't common for sale, not to me anyways. Wheres the car located? BTW to get it on the road with no rego, you're looking at minimum $1K. Old engine, old engine, chassis with bit of rust, changing oils and wiring up reverse lights which shouldn't have to be wired up anyway?

Blue Slip - $60 avg.

VIIU (you might not have to do this depending on how long it has been unregoed for) - $455

CTP - $400-700 depending on age

Rego - $300~

Insurance - $400-$2k depending on age, fines, car, comprehensive or 3rd party

By the time you get it on the road, might as well buy a rego'ed 33. Not to mention that it's also been worked on. It would be hard to resell given that it's plated as a DET rather than a DE so people knows its been worked on.

The car is located in sydney. And the guy did send me pictures of the car. I've found out hes not a p-plater himself. He did state that the car was slightly unfinished. It was going to become his daily but lost interest as he threw a rb30det into the old chasis of the rb25 engine and has no need for a second skyline. Apparently, the car was imported by a middle aged woman and then sold to a mechanic and then to this guy, so that means it hasnt been a

p-platers car yet, but who knows. You can never fully trust a seller. Then again he didnt try to hide anything (that i know of so far).

I've seen skylines of similar condition go for 7k+ on sau unregistered and all. so im thinking this is an alright deal. The condition of the car may only be worth 2.5k but because of the demand they're going for a lot more.

    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
    • I suppose it was relatively stock too, the JZ motor handle most mods thrown at them without even breaking a sweat
    • I saw your intro update, are you sure you've actually had a starter motor failure? You mention it could be the alarm causing it. I'm assuming you've got a no start issue, but what are the exact symptoms, as there could be a few reasons it has stopped wanting to start.
