255 35's or 255 40's ??

I am abouit to buy some new tryes for my R34 and have ordered some SO3's in 255 35's BUT I am not sure if this will mean a harsher and much lower ride than with 40's ??

I've got 265 x 35 on my R33 gtst and they are quite smooth to drive on.

cheers lindsay I love the SO3's and they dont make them above 235's in anything but 35's
