Damn, that is a huge increase, NismoGTSX. I might have to reconsider it. I'd talked myself out of it, but this is good to hear. Have you got any more details of your mods?

dAVE:

I didn't notice your comment to me about Merli. Thanks for the tip. I've just spoken to him about it actually.

Nahh - its got a fair bit more than 300... Probably more like 330... It makes 300 by 5000rpm, and then broke traction past 5500rpm, so I'm not sure of it's exact figures yet. It revs to 7500....

As for how quick down the track... Not sure if I'm in a hurry to run it... I've spent god knows how much money on it to get it to this stage, and it's suspension setup is for track work...

To run a decent time, I'd have to fit an auto box, and some sicks, plus some front runners, and that's money I'd rather not have to spend...

When I end up selling it, I might spend the $$$ just so I have the slips for 10 seconds when I sell it.

BTW - MIC33R - I'm not saying that the plenum's a complete waste of money... I'm saying that for that sort of $$$ outlay, you could spend it better :)

I have a custom plenum on my car, but i cannot really quantify the results of just the plenum, as I did alot of mods all at the same time. It definitly helps reducing the length of pipework but at my level (205rwkw) I don't think it makes a noticable difference. Another thing you have to factor in is alot of custom plenums remove the factory idle sensors, etc from the plenum which then requires a full computer.

Pics of my plenum are here www.mfx.com.au/team/prgen.jpg

Details on moy mods are here http://www.mfx.com.au/team/pages/prg.htm

Darren at Mood Motorsports made my plenum, which I believe is a much better design than the Sub-Zero item due to the tapered design. The Sub Zero one to me looks as if it favours the first few cylinders, and would starve the last few.

If you give Mood Motorsports your manifold, they will make the polished aluminium plenum for $850. He also did my pipework and I/C for $2000. I can't speak highly enough of his work, it is excellent.

Just tell him that Jeff from MFX recommended him.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
