I bought my r34 gt-t 5 months ago, second day i owned it i spun it out into a couple (5) plastic posts and luckily only did panel damage. Anyway after that i wondered why tcs hadn't kicked in, the car just lost traction and away i went. I checked the fuses and surprise surprise Mr Tokyo Drift (previous jap owner) had pulled the tcs fuse and the dodgy as hell importer just pulled the dash globe for the tcs warning light. i replaced the fuse and globe and all was sweet. fast forward a month ago i pull my throttle body off so i can replace the rocker cover gaskets as it is leaking a fair bit of oil past them, put everything back in and know my tcs no longer works and the tcs light is always on. Does anyone know what i did wrong?

TCS module is the one in front of the throttle body (R34 has 2 throttle bodies, the first one the air flows through is electronically actuated by TCS the second one is mechanically activated by the accelerator pedal.

TCS module has two plugs, one on the "front" of the TCS module and one on the "back" of the TCS module (back means nearest the firewall). You need both. The rear plug on mine has loose pins that slip out if you move the plug so double check your connections.

Why do you care? I always turn it off, not mashing the throttle is easily achievable.

The way the tcs cuts in is so harsh its ridiculous.

Anyway, check you have all the plugs on the throttle bidy and tcs throttle body plugged in correctly.

Was told the same by donovan from forced motorworx today, Will have to check the wiring and the pins for damage/looseness(is that even a word?)

Also the car has sustained $1500 in panel damage with the tcs off so i would rather it being on.

There are 3 things you need to know when you start driving a Skyline (I'm guessing nobody told you these very important rules):

1) Don't accelerate around corners

2) Don't accelerate around corners

3) Don't accelerate around corners

Don't blame the lack of TCS. Blame your right foot. Second day of owning a new car and "relying" on TCS is foolhardy. That's the nicest way I could possibly put it.

Also, do an advanced driver training day. Can't recommend them highly enough.

When i changed my rocker cover seals, the throttle body had to be removed. If you dont use the right gasket or if theres a leak in between when reinstalling, your tps will throw an error and your car will run like crap. Your tcs light will remain on too.

Hope this helps.

I ordered a new Gasket from taarks (genuine nissan metal gasket) when i did mine and hasnt leaked since. The stock paper gaskets are so brittle and shouldnt really be reused imo

Especially since i am running a new stock nissan gasket, Anyone have any ideas? It's is still showing the light and tcs is most definitely not on. pulled the throttle body again and cleaned it again, cleaned the contacts and checked wiring all ok.

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
