Hey guys,

I was doing some spirited driving on Saturday night in my 300KW R33 GTR. I noticed in my driveway on Sunday morning a oil leak. Found oil around the oil filter however it is fully tight.. Dip stick was also sticking out a little bit. There's hardly any oil left on the dip stick. Oil pressure is fine though on the factory gauge and no weird sounds in the motor and did not notice any power loss.

Gonna take it to a mechanic to do compression and leak down test. Did some research and apparently, the dipstick only reads about 1L from the bottom of it to the "H" mark. Is this true? If so, prob means I still have at least 3.6L in the sump? Has this happened to anyone else before? Attached some pics.

Oil filter might be ruptured. Take it off and have a look.

I would find and fix the oil leak first, then see how it runs, and only bother with compression and leak down tests if its making weird noises or down on power.

Dipstick out can be either;

1. Someone didnt push it in all the way

2. Perished rubber not tight enough to hold it in

3. Stuck PCV valve

4. Excessive blowby (and here's where the compression/leak down are useful)

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
