Just for the record,,,I HATE these threads, if I was a Mod in here I would delete them as fast as they appeared. Peter has always done the right thing by me and even lowered the price on stuff I've ordered because the exchange rate suited Australia. Another Shop Owner that will remain nameless didn't have the time to give me a price (3 times I asked)or if he had it in stock on a Nismo Item and I walked out without spending a cent. For me personally I know what to expect when I go to most Import places these days.

Neil.

Neil, the only post that was negative here was peer moderated which I think is a good thing.

if there had been several posts defaming the workshop in Question then I would have binned this long ago..

there's been some good discussion and praise for this business so I think it's ok to stay :)

for less experienced skyline owners who are into this mumbo jumbo shit ...they rely on asking questions to the people who know...u guys dont like answering questions then dont have a forum coz thats wat a "forum" means .thanx to Tosh for supporting this thread ....

Hey,

Im not a member of SAU (Yet waiting for my car to come back from shop then ill join  ) Friday 2 weeks ago, I popped in to ADVAN to pick up a Greddy cooler kit for my r33, im not sure of names but the dude who sold it to me was really great! He told me he had no kits left but he had the one on the display (hanging from the ceiling) I gave it a quick checkout and looked perfect so the guys says ok no probs and he pulls the box open and SPILLS all the packing foam onto the floor of the shop whacks the cooler in then shoves as much of the foam back in as possible (keeping in mind I rocked up at 5:30pm on a Friday arfternoon), then still with packing foam on the floor that wouldnt fit, he tapes up the box and says since its been on display ill knock $50 off for ya! Now thats what I call service. I left and I think the poor bugger was headed off for the vacuum cleaner to pick up the rest of the stuff :)

All i can say on unique how ever is that it was really hard for me to spend my money cause no one wanted to serve me...I went in wanting to buy a boost controller (apexi acvr) the dude seemed busy so I waitied 20 minutes for an aknowlegement before I walked out, went down to Croydon where I walked in the door and the dude pounced on me, I walked out the door 2 minutes later with a blitz controller instead....

Sounds like i got a bit ripped for saying that stuff.

Comes down to your personal opinion, we can all say what you want and if you have a look at some of the cars he has built there absolute monsters, he build power and reliablity

if your happy with him then go there, it was just he was rude to me, like Blitz said he may have been heaps busy and i came in at the wrong time,

He has a r33 gtr thats over 500 KW @the wheels, if a man like that can do that thenb go 4 it champ.

Same thing happened to me. But as I was walking out John asked if I needed any help. They're really helpful over the phone, I'll give them that, but walk in service is a bit iffy sometimes.

Great place and all, but it's happened more than once.

wil..

I think Unique have a 'problem' that perhaps many places have be they underwear stores, hi-fi boutiques etc.

Unless the people there KNOW who's coming in, they won't engage someone in conversation.

Some people want to come in and browse and they get annoyed if someone comes up and says 'can I help you?"

Some people wanna grab a sales person and just gasbag all day and waste everyones' time. This is perhaps 'worsened' by the fact that people come in and ask all kinds of B/S about the cars and just 'kick tyres'.

So where is the balance?

Are they good because they leave you alone and you can browse?

Or are they good because they're on your case as soon as you get in?

My advise is that if you want something - GET UP AND ASK!

I don't think they mind giving you the product they have for cash

The rule is here that if ya wanna say good stuff about a any company here... great.

But don't rip on any company.

T.

That's true. Like I said, John did ask me as I was walking out, and he's great!

BUT, I was standing there looking at their display cases for what seemed like an eternity. There's only so much you can look at. I was waiting to be served. Fair enough, Some people just like to browse. But I had passed the "browsing" stage. I didn't want to go up to the counter and cough like a rude git, the people there were having a bit of a yarn to what seemed to be one of their friends. I did eventually stand behind the guy that was talking, but I wasn't acknowledged at all. The feeling I got was, "Look we're busy talking, can't you see". So I went back to browsing, and waiting.

I didn't get acknowledged till I was walking out, and that's when John had come out and saw that I was walking out.

Now, you might think I was dressed like a derro, or looked like a kid that wasn't going to buy anything. But I had just come from work. I was in a suit and tie, and I was ready to spend a lot of money.

By the way, I'm not "ripping on them". Like I said, when I got spoken to, by the proprietor no less, it was great!

wil..

ps. NOT RIPPING ON UNIQUE!!! ....maybe ripping on some of their employees customer service a little.

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
