Wiring/altenator Questions

Hi all,

What purpose does the plug on the side of the altenator serve? On my RB25 swapped R32 it wasn't connected to anything. One side ran back to the fuse box but the other side ran to a plug that wasn't connected anywhere.

I'm thinking about just not using the plug to tidy up the wiring. I thought it might give the ECU a readout of the voltage it's producing but it went to the body loom not the ECU. Then I though maybe it has a battery voltage indicator in the dash but it doesn't. So not really sure what purpose it serves haha. Cheers

looking at the wiring diagram you need it on an R33 as it feeds some relays after the charge light, but in an R32 not real sure
