Hello everyone,

As I mentioned at the end of my last cruise, my next event was going to be north of sydney, and in an attempt to make it so that the Newcastle/Gosford area could join in, I have elected to start the cruise in Swansea, and end it in Brooklyn.

Overview:

10:30 am start at Bent street Swansea, using the various coast roads to go through the Entrance, and Woy Woy, we will make our way to Brooklyn in the most direct but interesting way possible. ( Old Pacific Freeway towards the end ;-) ).

We will be stopping just after Woy Woy for photo's in a car park on the lakeside, ( see map ).

We should arrive at Brooklyn near the marina club for lunch and the end of our cruise in 2-4 hours approx, depending on traffic/photo stop/fuel stops.

I did a variant of the cruise way back in the day on my P's. I will be doing a pre-run probably mid september to make sure, but if memory serves there shouldnt be any problems what so ever. anyone keen for the Pre-cruise please let me know, I would love to have a few other people who know the plan/want to take photo's involved in the hosting process to make this go as smoothly as possible.

For sydney siders, we are finishing right near the mooney mooney ramp, so its all easy as pie to get home.

For those of us further south, I am staying in a hotel nearby so as to enjoy my morning and be in a position to arrive at the meeting point early.

I know I said the end of september, but work knocked me back since everyone seems to have holidays during that time. Fingers crossed it should be a nice, clean sunny day like the last one.

As per usual, we will be conducting ourselves in proper SAU fashion, And I hope to see a lot of you there. Any questions feel free to PM me or smash them out below.

P.S. Terry has asked his N1 if it would be possible to run the forefront of this cruise. N1 said it depends on how his tuning session goes. THEREFORE, and not that i dont appreciate Terry and N1, I am still open for anyone else running a GTR who would love to run the pack if Terry's unable to do it.

Thanks again everyone :)

Tis wise Josh that you have a Plan B. Even the best laid out plans can run amok when there isn't some sort of backup (as we realised a couple of weekends ago). Your planning appears immaculate as always!

I am a definite for this...have even had the crucial approval from wifey. Will think on whether or not I drive up the night before, will depend on whether or not I am bringing my son as well.

I will be staying at the ibis hotel up at wallsend, a decent 30 minutes from the starting point.

As for the scout run, this wednesday i will be leaving my place at about 6-7 am, and takes me about 1hr 45 minutes to get to the M2 turnoff for newcastle.

Anyone keen to come please pm me so we can arrange a meet up.

Pr-cruise completed,

Finishing Venue booked,

Very, VERY excited.

Everyone please cross your fingers for another beautiful day for cruise day!!

Will be awesome if it was anything like today :)

Just quickly flicking through, maybe 5 including me? Hopefully bob comes along.

Its still early days yet, 4 weeks till the weekend. I book things pretty far in advance lol,

I am aware that world time attack is on that weekend as well, so we will see. But its just a fun drive on a sunday socialising.

I will be making an event and posting it on FB, to try and draw attention to it.

My last event had around 15 cars turn up, so who knows.

Will be an awesome day!!

I got few mates 31, 33 and my 34. But unfortunately my 34 gt4 is being converted to stagea rb25det Neo and manual awd box on 13th.

Prob won't be finished in time. :(

But if it is prob be 3 more coming along. We are all on the coast.

Pie in the sky should be a stop man.

Would be great to have you guys come along !!

Unfortunatly i might have to chuck pie in the sky on to next year, i wasnt %100 sure what good cruise stops where around the coast so thats why i went with the brooklyn stop. Add on top of that i dont have an exact number on cars, and the route and stops i have picked out can accomadate a decent amount of cars just in case we get a big turn up. I was originally going to have us finish up at berowra, but i couldnt find somewhere decent, and brooklyn is at least on the water

I would have been keen if i had time to do another pre-run for a change but with midnight club this weekend i just dont have a chance heh.

Definitly will keep it in mind for next year so thanks for the heads up.

I would also like to announce that jason is coming, so if he brings his camera there will be some awesome shots at the end of the day.

Keep hoping the weather holds out.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
