A note for those who haven't bought a second handy from a dealers for a while and have been used to a 30 day 1000 klm on rides having more than 160000klm or 10 years age Statutory Warranty be aware--the entire Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act (QLD) was repealed and this little gem of keep the pricks honest has gone.

As at the 01 Dec 2014 it was replaced with the Motor Dealers and Chattel Auctioneers Act, this act has more curls in it than a boars pizzle and paperwork designed by bozo when drunk , it's a dealers dream .

So with most of the average grey imports being over 10 years old and when buying from a dealer be aware that there is bupkis statutory warranty.

The statutory warranty has not changed as far as I can tell in respect of the under 10 year/160000klm vehicle it's still three months 90 days.(Qld)

A word of caution if you do have a complaint about a 2nd hand vehicle fault that is not covered by the Statutory Warranty you'll be taking it to Consumer Affairs to seek a resolution---good luck --the phrase 'ASS CLOWNS ' was invented specifically to describe this pack of nongs

Unless of course you have access to Lawyers Guns and Money in which case it'd be --'GAME ON' !

Yep , it makes a big diff (IMO) when you're buying something like a 33 or 34 from a dealer , if anything was crook the 30 days 1000 k's was enough time for something not easily findable on an inspection or that only showed up intermittently to come out and at least you had some come back , I think it'll ping selling prices across the board long term.

I just bought a newly complied 2002 Evo 7 GTA   with 75000klm on it for $16.5K drive away off a reputable Qld dealer which under the new Act would have had nada warranty , the car came with 12 months '''aftermarket warranty''' --at another $780.00 -- when I checked the Warranty Company :down: the deal was off , until the dealer offered to write into the contract a 3 month 5000klm statutory warranty under the new act , deal on , contract amended/ signed ,deposit payed , pick up the car tomorrow.

There are so many dishonourable people in the supply chain of these vehicles the mind boggles that I can't think of any genre of vehicle that a reasonable legislated statutory warranty is more important to than our type of imports.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
