Hey Guys

Going to take the GTR down to WSID in a few weeks for a run down the 1/4 mile , I've been doing abit of reading on these forums to try and work out what times the car should be roughly good for , I've seen some very differen't results though.

Basically the run down on the car is it's an r32 GTR with really no extra weight ( stero's and the like) , I have a dyno graph from the previous owner from when the PFC was installed and tuned at C&V which is for 275kw@all four wheels. In this form on a perfect run what should the car be able to do ? , I'm hoping for high 11's am I asking too much?. What would 275kw@at all four be in rwkw as I am a little confused on how it would be worked out seeing as it is not a constant 4wd (coming from a wrx back ground here) .

Also another thing with the car it has adjustable cam gears but they haven't been fiddled with yet and are at the stock setting's. If I'm chasing a decent 1/4 mile time should I be looking to get them adjusted for peak power , mid range , or low down . I know that last one might be a stupid question as I have my own thoery on what I should be looking at getting them adjusted for just wanted to check with the people who are in the know .

cheers

Brett

Yeh will be first time out racing the gtr but not first time at the drags, plus WSID is a pretty quick track . Was there a few weeks ago was talking to a guy with an r32 GTR with just the usual mods (pods and exhuast) less power then me he managed 12.0@114mph , if I can go 11.99 I'll be happy.

For now lol

It's pretty hard to run an 11 with standard ceramic turbos without risking breaking them and blowing the engine in the process.

I disagree. There are GTR's that have run quicker than 11.8 in both Aus and NZ with both std turbos and motors. I've even heard of a std turbo gtst that runs 11's.

Mate, I think that you should be looking at 11.5 - 11.8 depending on how you get the launch done. Good luck and make sure you scan your timeslip no matter how you run and post it in the timeslip registry.

Adrian

i think under 11.s is hard to get, even with experianced drivers( not me) and even driving the same car for years, you cant estimate what your car should run at the creek, just take it down and have some fun, dont expect to much the first few time till you get used to launching as i have seen a lot of people get dissapointed after running bad times the first few times.

Usually it will take you serveral times to get used to the car and if you have a standard clutch youll be racing twice befor you have to go home with no clutch at all.

spend the money get some good tyres, and now that its winter boost it up a little and go have some fun down the track. also remember gtr's take off the best bouncing off the limiter.

Yeh I've seen a few with the std ceramic wheel turbo's run 11's , I've got abit of a head start on them I'm running HKS 2530's .

Sweet, with good driving 11s should be quite doable! SOLID 11s even.

  • 1 month later...

Only got one run on wednesday night came up with a 12.3@111mph whole front splash tray came loose and dragged under the front from about half track on . By the time we got it back to the pits and removed it the rain had started coming down.

Not impressed with the trap speed but putting it down to the gravel tray for now . Car made 270rwkw on unigroup's dyno the week before would have to think with this power should be able to trap about 115-117mph?. Might head down next meet and try again hopefully no rain this time.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
