RTHRTY3
I've got this strange problem with my indicator. It won't stop ticking after i use it or when it gets back to the centre. The lights switches off but the ticking noise won't go away or slowly slows down but won't completely stop. This happens both after signalling left and right, and after switching off the hazard light. Anyone ever had this problem before or knows wats going on here? Please help. oh its an r33 gts. Thanx in advance. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50296-indicator-problem/ Share on other sites

strutto
Not really... Sorry The flasher unit is behind the dash near the clock... No idea how to test it other than replacing it with a good one... elbee111
Have had the same problem (intermittent) for 2 yrs now. Can be very annoying when it happens and often seems to do it just to piss you off. Mine is occasionally accompanied by a wisp of smoke from the steering column, like a component or some PCB track is getting cooked. It surprises me that the indicators still work. In short, I cannot really give you any clues but, I will watch this thread closely. And you are not alone. El Bee no sh*t i just had my first wisp of smoke coming from the exact same place this morning while playing around with both the indicators and the hazard light, scares the living daylite out of me lol. Any other ideas people, and how much does the switch costs to replace? thanx Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/50296-indicator-problem/#findComment-1001083 Share on other sites
azron
OMG... this had been happening with me for a while now too. On Sat i took part of my dash out, found the unit that makes the ticking sound - soz i didnt take pictures, the camera was flat. The unit looked to be in good order, and i thought i'd leave it disconnected to stop the sound.. heh.. but that makes the indicators not work At All! Not even the hazards. I have had the soke from the steering column as well.. a ripped off the tiller housing but, couldnt see any wires that looked shorted, all wrapped up in black tape.. I suspect it might be with dodgy wiring of the turbo timer (i have an apexi pen type TT) or immobiliser unit... I too would like any recommendations on how to fix this issue... i really dont want to take it to an auto elec who has no idea about imports with turbo timers and stuff. RTHRTY3
azron i know which unit you disconnected cause i did the same thing yesterday and the whole thing didn't work. Its the rectangular cube thing next to the cyclinder tube unit, it was 3 flat plug (not really good at explaining this) connection thing, it think is got a english tag label that says something like "MILES" and other stuff. Just out of interest wat engine oil do u guys use, i've got the castrol magnatec 10W/40. ta. RTHRTY3
ok guys found out wat the problem is, its the indicator switch itself which is in the steering column (where the smoke came from), not the flasher relay cause thats under the dash ontop of your left foot. Only problem is to find the replacement switch. Might try wreckers or somethin, or ni$$an if its not too expensive.
