Hi guys,

Im investing in an R32 GTR very soon.

Im just wondering if you guys can give me an estimate what power the following mods could give me:

R32 GTR

- 2 larger turbos (like HKS GT2530 or garret gt2530) not a real huge upgrade, maybe even just hi-flow the stock ones

- Larger intercooler

- Upgraded clutch

- Full exhaust

- Intake mods + CAI

- Boost controller (not set at a crazy boost though)

- Maybe larger injectors if really needed

- suspension and brake upgrades as necessary

- aftermarket engine management (power fc?)

All this with a stock head gasket, bottom end etc.

G'day Barks,

Based on a good friend of mine doing the same level of work to his '97 33 GT-R, I'd say a real world ~550+hp if set-up & tuned correctly. HKS 2530's will make more though!

To make the most of a package like you've listed (& using the 2530's) I'd add cams to your list.

Edit - You might want to add a f/pump & reg' upgrade too.

Yeah mate.

The list Ethan_R33 has posted above (including the HKS2530's) has the potential to make ~550+hp (410kw) @ the flywheel.

Or ~300+kw @ the wheels.

Cams will certainly help the 2530's, & Z32 AFM's would be a good idea too!

The stock bottom end & HG will be fine as long as the tuning is set-up correctly.

Gday.

Im making a Real World 280 kw @ the wheels similar mods to those Suggested.... the HKS GT25/30s are a perfect street turbo, I love mine! :D

Mine also has HKS Step 1 Cams and HKS 1.2mm Headgasket.

Andrew, how's it going? How have you been?

Gezzz, that's one hell of a car your looking at.

If you end up getting it and I'm over your way, I might have to con you into taking me for a drive...

I love that feeling of my eyes getting sucked into the back of my head :);)

J

HJB can you provide some specs on your car, im running a HKS single t45s with a 76 comp wheel out of a t51 SPL and i have 310kw at all 4 at 17psi, what sort of boost you runnin, also when does your turbo ramp up, or kick in ??? Are you internals stock, im hoping to see 500 rwhp soon-bout 360rwkw on stock internals i think it can do it, any comments or suggestions??

There still is a question over what has been done with the motor, plenty of HKS gear, basically all the mods listed above plus more, however the cat seems to restrict the power a little, so a new one is on the cards, also at only 18psi. The turbo starts to create boost at about 3000rpm, and on full song soon after, at this point you just hang on for the ride! :eek1:

    • Every time I have to buy new tyres I question what actual difference it makes between running $40 tyres and $300 tyres and whether it's worth it. Because that's a massive difference to the wallet. But then I did go to a driving training at some point which also included emergency braking and swerving in the wet. In part I think it was meant to show people how bad it gets. Funnily enough what I took away from it is that I can go much harder than I thought in my car. I presume mostly because of decent tyres. Some of the other cars there were shocking to behold. And a bit scary that cheap tyres are probably a lot more common on the road than decent ones
    • I'm pretty sure that is just straight AI generated word soup, where did you receive that ad (facebook)? They misspell Pirelli twice, no human eyes looked at that before it was posted. Incidentally, I am running the chinese pirellis on my V37 and they are.....OK....I didn't go looking for them, they were just what the shop had in stock in the tall size that car needs. LIke any brand, you really can't trust the brand's reputation to apply to every product they produce. Pirelli make good and crap tyres, all with the same logo stamped on them, and all with an attempt at price premium due to the brand
    • Welcome.  It's unfortunate,  but a lot of these vehicles just haven't had regular and thorough maintenance for a long while. Once its back up to scratch, it should provide fun and fairly trouble free motoring.  Keep us updated with what you're doing with it.
    • Ya thankfully I've been able to drive it, it's pretty fun however I noticed yesterday while driving to work that my left side of the car is very wobbly, like any bump I go over it jolts the whole vehicle and pulls the steering wheel, I kicked the wheel a few times once I got home and it's a very distinct metal on metal clunk, so I guess I need to take a look at my suspension, maybe it's a control arm bushing or tie rod
