Hi all,

I just bought myself an r32 gtst, and ive got a few questions:

Where is the ambient temperature sensor for the climate control - cos the one in my car keeps reading 45.9 degrees no matter how cold it is , and how would i go about finding a replacement part if its stuffed.

What does it mean if the HICAS light comes on - It has come on only twice since ive had it, and only when i've been drving for extended periods over 100kmph eg going down the freeway. Does it mean that the rear-wheel steering is on, or buggered??

Thanks in advance

top of the dash in front of the passenger is the ambient temp sensor. Try a second hand one from the forums, or a wreckers. There is a dignostic mode for the climate control as well...

HICAS light can mean a number of things...powersteering fluid, or brake fluid could be low. Need a wheel alignment.

o a diagnostic check on the HICAS as well....should narrow down the problems at least to give you somewhere to start.

hicas light shows when the hicas isnt working

ive got the same problem but mines on all the time

apparently its really common with the r32s

and for the climate control sensor u can pick one up from "Wally" at Zimports 8244 7911

179 South Terrace, Wingfield

he has heaps of standard parts at very good prices too!

I'd get rid of the HICAS, replacement kits are available for around $100, and then take the bulb out of the dash

Mine used to play up all the time, so it has been replaced with a solid bar, and it works really well - feels much more stable and predictable

My ambient temp sensor is at the front of the car.

It used to be located where the FMIC now is. I simply moved it to the side a little.

The sensor on the top of the dash on the passenger side is a sunload sensor.

The sensor on the right hand side of the center console right next to the gearshifter boot is the in car temp sensor I believe.

They all go hand in hand working out the temps, where to blow cool and warm air etc :D

    • Or, the height of the release bearing is not correct for your combo. Start with the bleeding and checking the slave moves throughout its range when you press the pedal (2 person required), but it is possible for the height to be internally wrong too (box back off to measure.
    • Yes, there's quite a few things that can go wrong during a clutch install. Very unlikely. I have a similar clutch. They (ACS) make good gear. No, it is not normal. It is possible that you just need to bleed the clutch slave. But the new clutch will also have a more aggressive actuation force/pressure, and so your old slave cylinder might be a bit leaky or otherwise compromised, and not up to the extra force required. Or the master cylinder, same.
    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
