OK... well i couldnt find the thread (ceffo did tho :)http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=47222) we had going about the stories and questions etc that people have about how confused other people are about Ceffies, Laurels etc so i made another.

I dont want to hear about drag racing... i dont want to hear about street drifting... all i wanna hear is "WHAT THE?"

:)

I'll start off with an example.

Ive finally got CEF-ZLA on the road with a UVP (Unregistered Vehicle Permit) so i can go to and from mechanics... garages etc etc

To truely understand the attention this car seeks if you havent already listen to this as it gives u a bit of an idea altho still not as scarey as it sounds at full tit :P

On the way home from a mechanics at about 5pm i was dropping fully sick coolahs mate.... no sorry... i mean i was coming down the road changing pretty hard and accelrating to the speed limit as hard as possible to give it a good test.

I could see a guy behind me in an old EA falcon trying to catch up... he was ducking and weaving in and out of traffic to catch me at the lights...

He finally caught up and dropped his window...

"What the **** is that man!?"

-Its a nissan cefiro

"A what?"

-Nissan Cefiro

"Is that like a maxima?"

-To a certain extent :)

"Whats it got under the hood? Sounds mean as!"

-A Skyline GTR engine

"SHIT... no wonder :)"

No sooner had i gone round the corner but some old dude in a 4WD started following me and trying to get up beside me to have a yarn about WHAT THE?

Then some tosser in a VN calais V6 wanted a drag to which i replied "**** off u idiot... go race an exel"

I swear im going to make up a sign and stick it on the passnger window cause im sick of answering the same questions.

"THIS CAR IS A NISSAN CEFIRO. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A HOLDEN SAFIRA. IT IS A TURBO CHARGED GRANDADS CAR WITH MORE POWER AT THE WHEELS THAN AT YOUR ENGINE AND NO I DONT WANT TO DRAG YOUR VN AS I COULD THINK OF BETTER THINGS TO WASTE MY PETROL ON"

It is very funny looking at the faces of some people tho when it goes past them or as you take off from the lights... ive scared the begeesus out of so many people i still cant help but laugh :)

heh. i want your car.

noone has asked me or even looked at the car with the WHAT THE face except for one passenger in a p plater 180 and one p plate guy in a ford laser who stopped at the lights on green and asked me to smoke it up (being really nice about it too haha).

I want a gtr engine damnit.

You still selling ? I might go hock a kidney.

I have had similar experiences Inark...........except mine barely looks like a ceffy anymore, so you can imagine the "what the?" looks i get..........

I remember coming back from the dyno tune with my race pipes on............damn that scared some people. hehehehe

thats the one!

link added to the top post :P

I constantly get what is it! (as does everyone)

Now this is people asking me what it is after they have had a GOOD look around the car including badges etc.

VN commodore but not... (duhh?)

New Bluebird

New School Torry (after they read cefiro and nissan...)

Camary

Cosmo (nah dude, cosmos are 2 doors... and dont make rb20 noises) Most common thing its mistaken for

A ford (this was on the highway over the UHFs someone then corrected them and said it was a CefirA! I quickly corrected them then...)

its been called a WHAT THE F&^K IS THAT!!! a few times too.

Skyline, siliva, datto 200b I think was said once

If only most people could read the badges!

thats one thing that makes it hard to know what mine is... the badges are off except the side ones on the window but no one looks there

Yeah, mine doesnt have the silvia look lights tho. Doesnt look so Japanese as such.

But yeah, the funniest thing I have found is telling people its an 1988 model car, they just dont belive it.

Yeah all the peeps i told said it looked liked a 90's model. WTF.. Its blurdy 16 years old.

lol ive heard a lot of people say it looks like a magna

Yeah? as in the older shape? Where the headlights lent forwards a bit? I can see it with a camary with the new lights on the rear, but not so much a magna.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
