Hi,

I have split my rear right rear-cradle buch (gel is coming out). I have been told that it a VERY expensive to pay someone to take the cradle out and press out the bushes, despite the low cost of the parts ($160 from UAS).

I have been told that putting in pineapples is the cheap-cheap option, the pineapples cost me as much (almost) but I save $1000 in labour. So I guess this is what I'd be doing.

Also on the UAS site are some "Alloy Rear Spacer Cradles". Does anyone know what these are? What they do and what needs to be done to install them?

The 'Alloy Rear Spacer Cradles' are just metal pineapples. I'd go for the eurethane ones, as they probably wont be as noisy and usually have a slit in them to make it easier to install. You can get em from whiteline or in the for sale section on www.nissansilvia.com from sponsors etc

Have you considered looking for a complete rear subframe assembly? I was faced with the same problem, and for me it was cheaper (by $2500) to purchase a secondhand, 33,000km rearend and drop it in. Sure it's not as good as the fix, but it's cheap.

I was told it would be better to purchase a BRAND NEW rear K-frame from Japan and fit it as it was only marginally more expensive than replacing the bushes in mine - it's apparently 3 times the labour costs as 2 guys need to hold the frame whilst one operates the press.

I got a quote to get the bushes fitted by Gavin on the gold coast and they estimated about $600 labour to remove subframe , take out old bushes and fit new bushes, bleed 4wd,hicas + cost of new bushes.

It takes a while to get the old ones out, I myself are just going to buy a 2nd hand younger subframe - they are worth about $250 or less. Still a bit to refit all the rest of the stuff to it tho.

If you need to replace the diff cradle bushes (about 8 bushes) it will cost about $380 for nismo bushes + fitting, subframe also needs to be out to fit these as well.
