Coming from an asian family was hoping my wouldn't know what a turbocharger is. He knew and fumed.

When he found out my car was TWIN turbo, my ears started to ring for weeks on end.

That's the thing, he can't say anything about it costing too much to maintain coz I'm a mechanic so I do all my own work, I get parts at rediculously low prices through work and I never had to spend a cent in two years on it except services, which I do myself.

The only thing is now I have done the full rebuild he told me it is a waste of money and I argued and argued. Forge pistons...blah blah it'll be stronger now and the engine will last me for another five years(which is what I want it to do). 2000 k's after the rebuild...turbo shits itself, now he refuses to help. I got no way to get to work (he has two cars and usually lends one to me). He is just trying to prove a point. Turbo is only gonna cost me 600 to repair and was only a result of the engine going in the first place...it was only a matter of time. Now everyone keeps telling me to sell it and it's not worth anything.

Tell me this...please...anyone.:

R32 in good condition

Hyflow turbo

Large front mount

huge fuel pump

bigger reg

fully rebuilt, forged Ross pistons, balanced, blueprinted engine

race and comp bearings

ported head

lightened flywheel

button clutch

300 RWHP

I did everything myself except the balance...total cost $6000 over 2 years

I could sell this for $16,000 right? (not that I want to)

but I reckon it would be worth that with a good turbo back on it.

NOT ONE PERSON BELIEVES ME....They reckon "those cars aren't worth anything"

yeah right.

I WANT MY CAR DRIVING AGAIN....I WILL CRUSH WHOEVER STANDS IN MY WAY. lol

I'm not listenin to any of their crap, coz every person who has ever bagged the 'line', I have taken 'em for a drive and suddenly they want one...funny that hey.

That's all from me...BTW I'm not cryin or anything, just gettin the frustration out on the keyboard.

easy $16000 man, if you find the right buyer i'm sure...$18,000 wouldn't be outta the question.

anyway other than that just sounds as if your surounded by negitative people, you need either a holiday or a trip/track day with some other turbo/skyline drivers.

i was in kinda the same boat, not as bad as it sounds with you thou, i was one of the only people i knew with a 2L turbo imported car, then one of my mates baught a s15.

After that, the gloomy people disapeared and now every weekend it's a cruse down to the beach or to other little towns in the surrounding area.

In short my 2 cents would be: Get a turbo friend, get the cars out on the open road and road trip.

    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday. Now for some reason I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  But I see no mention of this on any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must me missing something?
    • BRUH, one of the biggest mistakes of my life..... and i've had plenty ;[)
    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.
