man $u.s 500 is almost wat i payed for the fc

f**d if ima pay that..........

dude is asking a bit much

In the value for money stakes, the Datalogit was (and still is) one of the best value buys I made for ours. We use it on the 2 X GTR's, the R32 GTST and the R33 GTST. That said I still have a Commander as well.:P

haha I ain't gonna market a funky special dongle. I already reprogram my R32 ECU, when I get around to making myself a dongle I'll use it myself and whoever wants to try it out. Its not gonna have a gurantee, and it sure as hell ain't gonna be legal since it uses proprietory Apexi software. I've never offered it as an alternative to a Datalogit either.

Now I'm no genius but I know one when i meet one!

We will call him "Mr. X" for the time being...

Mr. X has an FD (gen 3 FD3S RX7) with a Power FC. His hobbies are drag racing and number crunching.

"Mr. X" decided he needed data logging if he was going to get his "stock" FD to do any better than his best 12.2 1/4 mile time.

So Mr. X built the "FC-Box" interface, wrote a lot of software software, "FC-Edit" and, with a combination of logging runs and fine tuning his FD and optimizing his driving style he got his best 1/4 down to an 11.6.

Well, it wasn't quite that simple and it took a lot of development time too, but it can be easy for you because "Mr. X" and I have put the whole system into one easy to use package we call "FC-Datalogit".

Now, lets see, there's a dude in Japan named Kashi, who developed a prototype board that allows you to use Power Excel software with a Power FC. He happens to own an FD... and *gasp shock horror* he notes in his online diary that he got his PB down to 11.6 :P

So basically the datalogit and the prototype board are one and the same. Any monkey can come up with a frontend for the software given enough time, then hardcode the software with specific models and sell it.

I just don't have the time to do it...

I'm sure someone else can.

Oh and don't bug him for the software either... there is no link to it on his website for a reason. He WILL NOT send it to you no matter how much you beg and plead as he dosen't want to be caught up in legalities with the software. If you really want it that badly do a search on the forums and find the thread where doughboy linked to it :P

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
