PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)

Recommended Posts

UPDATE:

I bring good and bad news. First, the good: Brent has already heard back from the supplier. Now, the bad: there are significant supply problems for PowerFCs at the moment (whadda know, just my luck). Apexi is very low on stock.

This is how it breaks down:

  • BNR 32/32 89/8- 98/8 RB26DETT PFC 414-N029 H/C 415-X001

2 units will be available at the end of November; 2 at the end of December.

  • ECR33 93/8-98/4 RB25DET PFC 414-N012 H/C 415-X001 Series 1 & 2

These units are very scarce at the moment. Units will be ready by the end of December.

  • S15 99/1-02/7 SR20DET PFC 414-N018 H/C 415-X001

These are in stock.

  • RPS13 94/1-96/7 SR20DET PFC 414-N015 H/C 415-X001

This is available.

  • 180SX RPS13 91/1-93/12 SR20DET R/ HEAD PFC 414-N014 H/C 415-X001

Units will be ready by the end of December.

  • SILIVIA PS13 91/1-93/9 SR20DET R/ HEAD PFC 414-N014 H/C 415-X001

These are available.

  • RX7 FDS 1- 3 91/12-95/11 13B-REW PFC 414-Z004 H/C 415-X001

This is available.

Now the obvious question is: how long are people willing to wait to receive their PowerFC(s)? I imagine some people are only prepared to wait 2-3 weeks, whereas for people like me, its not a huge issue.

The problem is that Apexi doesn't seem to have any stock. Except for those stores actually sitting on stock, I am led to believe we would have much the same problem ordering elsewhere.

I need to know who is willing to wait (where there is no supply), and who isn't? Please contact me and let me know.

Assuming we still have the numbers to go ahead a final price will be given on Tuesday November 30, and payment will need to be made between Wednesday December 1 and Friday December 3 (and must be recieved by Friday).

Sorry it isn't better news.

Lucien.

if anyone pulls out of this count me in as i am very keen and have the cash!

spewin i missed out of the group buy, as i only joined this forum today!

Why has Brent waited until now to say he doesn't have stock of Power FCs?

Is it possible to pay when he actually receives stock, instead of paying $1000.00 now and waiting two or more months for delivery?

Thats true.. when he offers a group buy of more than 20, it would have been good to make sure he can get 20 first :D oh well we see how long we have to wait!

Price drop by $100.00 for every month we have to wait... :D

At least it'll give me some time to work on the EBC bulk buy.

I think my second order will be cancelled, but I'll still be in for one. I'll get back to you with confirmation though.

Guys,

I will answer all the PM and emails tomorrow: I am taking the night off as I am tired and don't feel particularly well. Moreover its better for me to just sit down and go through everything in one hit tomorrow than some tonight, and some tomorrow.

babs: I will PM you.

Apologies to anyone that tried to call me this afternoon: my phone decided to turn itself off (anyone with a T86i would know about this particular 'bug').

Lucien.

umm instead of paying it all up?

how about we pay like an initial deposit to confirm our intentions of buying one and when brent actually has them ordered, we pay the rest of the money. So we feel more secure about our money, and he feel safe about us not pulling out, at least if we do, we lose the money or something.

Say pay 500 of the initial price...

just an idea, coz paying 1000 now and then waiting a month for it, i rather pay 500 now, use the other 500 for something productive...den make another 500 to pay the rest of the pfc off..!!!

If Brent agree, I'd go with deposit system. At least it shows our intention to pay the full amount as soon as item is available in stock. I know I do want one!

Right,

I was going to post this yesterday evening but the forums disappeared.

No because Brent is required to pay upfront when he places the order with the supplier for all the units, which would be next week. He isn't willing to, or capable I imagine, or paying for $36k of stock upfront on promises of payment.

Can you let me know?

Again, Brent needs to pay for the full cost of the order upfront at the time its placed. In this senario he would have to cover $18k worth of order on his own, and he is not willing to do that.

In fact, this is exactly what Brent said:

People may say. "I will just pay at the end of the month" It doesnt work like that. In order for those PFC`s & H/C`s to be made up they have to be paid for up front. ie I have to pay Apexi.

I have not heard back for a lot of you. Please let me know of your intentions. As it currently stands...:

I have moved this list to the first page

Those who are unkown, please contact me ASAP.

Again, sorry about the delay in my reply but more important issues cropped up in the last 24 hours and then the forums decided to die.

Cheers,

Lucien.

Sorry if it has been mentioned above, but I'm in a hurry...

When does payment have to be made/received by?

Also, are the units guaranteed for the end of December? What happens if it's mid-January and we're still waiting? Refunds, further discounts, or is that the risk we are taking?

List updated (see first post). Please contact me directly if you are unknown, or listed incorrectly.

To those who are asking to be included: please be patient, I want to try and sort out those who confirmed first, and then I will worry about others.

If all goes according to plan, payment would need to be made by the end of this week.

As for guarantees, I doubt anyone can provide absolutes: I can't (obviously, I am just a buyer like you), Brent can't as he is dependent on the supplier, and the supplier probably won't. The point you raise is valid. I doubt further discounts would be forth coming (as that would mean Brent would be out of pocket), but I will ask what happens if things get delayed unreasonably.

I have made some enquires with Greenline to see if they have a similar problem, and initial indications is they may have more stock on hand but that ECR33 units are also tight, so as Brent suggested this seems to be a problem with the supplier (Apexi). I have asked for a few more details, but I am disinclined to switch supplier unless Greenline is able to supply significantly more units as I think it looks bad both for me and for the forum/club.

Lucien.

It looks bad for Nengun offering units they cannot supply, so if Greenline have the units in stock, then take our business there.

What is Greenline's web-site address? Maybe I will be able to sort out an EBC bulk purchase with them, considering Nengun only offer two different models (Power FC kit and AVC-R).

It pains me to do this, but I am going to call off the group buy. :(

My decision has been prompted by the unfortunate combination of short supply, the forthcoming Christmas and New Year period, and the necessity to pay now and wait for an unknown time.

I have spoken to Brent about regarding the concern about the time frame dragging out beyond the quoted dates. Not suprisingly he can't give any guarantees as he is dependant on Apexi and their ability to deliver on time is unknown.

Given the number of people who would be without units for a signficiant period and the sums involved, I do not think it is worth the risk of unhappiness should delivery times not be met. Brent seems to be of the same opinion. I would feel personally responsible if people did not receive their PFC/s by the end of December, and I would be powerless to do much about it.

I am very sorry to have got people interested and hopeful. In hindsight, had I been aware of the possible delays I would never have suggested the group buy, but I only found out a few days ago, all of an hour or so before you did.

Evidently despite agreeing to continue, a number of you have significant concerns about delivery times: this has been expressed to me, and directly to Brent by some people.

Again, you have my most sincere apologies. If I could do something to speed up delivery I would, but at the end of the day I am in exactly the same situation as you: just a buyer in the groupbuy.

Brent has suggested that we wait until the new year and try again when supply is hopefully more available, and there isn't the prospect of holidays, etc. It is evident that there is significant interest in such a groupbuy so I encourage people to consider putting another groupbuy together. I, however, will not be doing it. Not to beat my own drum, but I have spent countless hours on this groupbuy and the prospect of having to do it again is not very appealing.

That's about it. Thanks again for your interest and I am sorry the result has not been more positive.

P1E: Greenline expects a delivery soon, but they were extremely vague on just what they could supply. Units from the delivery are already allocated so its hard to say just how many would be available. I am yet to hear back from them when I replied asking for more details.

Lucien.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
