I'd just like to make an ode to my faithful old r31! which got me down to melb and back without skipping a beat.

:D

It's travelled over 4000km in the last 2 weeks, did about 30,000km last year and its got about 335,000km on the clock, and still going strong. Did two 1400km days in its stride no worries in 30+ degree days.

It may be a box on wheels, it may not have a whole heap of punch these days, but damn they're reliable thrash boxes!

Boy driving around the Police State (Victoria) is painful though!! Driving around there is like getting your scrotem shaved with tweezers! Every second you feel like you're about to get a speeding fine, everybody drives so slow. I think down there I saw in about 2 weeks down there more cops than I've seen in 2 months up here pulling people over. And yet my car still ****ing got broken into for the first time ever after being parked in the street for literally 1 hour!

For godsakes, if they ever try to bring in fixed cameras, stealth cameras and whatever else up here fight every tooth and nail, as it will destroy driving up here forever. It's like you may as well fall asleep at the wheel - driving for enjoyment is dead, and driving just becomes a painful chore. And yet Victorian's still manage to kill themselves very nicely (road toll was up down there about 20 on the year before). It doesn't at all do anything to save lives, so why inflict the pain?

Nice rant Pred :D

Go the 31 though! Good effort... Glad you made it back safely... I've been pondering should I get an old 31 wagon as a basher lately...

It's been a long time since I've been to Victoria and I can't see any reason to go back any time soon by the sounds of it...

Where was the pic taken?

Thats probably what i'm going to do in a few months to be able to carry my bike, car parts, etc properly, etc.. unfortunately R31 wagons are a bit harder to find.

Can't even remember where I took the photo! was somewhere between the middle of nowhere and the middle of nowhere else along the newell in country NSW. There was a neato looking plane there... let's play "spot the location" !! :D

    • Temporary. Sorry about the inconvenience while we sort some issues.
    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
