hey guys.....i just got an EPA from VIC Police for having AVCR on my car....how nice~~~!!! :( that's why VIC people said "VIC is the place to be fined"

anyway, just wondering...is it illegal to have a EBC on the car in QLD??? if no, then would that affect me as i'm holding QLD licence and my car is registered in QLD...would that still affect me???

thanks

The fines/laws are based on the states so we found out. So if you want a 100% legal car for all of Australia, you need it engineered in every state so it would seem.

*ps, if you think thats bad I have had a number of mates get booked for, steering wheels too shinny, steering wheel too small, no H pattern on the gearstick, and not ENOUGH water in the washer bottle, getting done for an avcr aint that bad!*

I heard from some people that "the only illegal Boost controller is an In-cabin Bleed type controller such as the Turbosmart Dual stage controller. In QLD electronic Boost controllers are Legal"......

if it is true, i should be alright as accroding to the statement "if your car is legal in qld, there is an agreement between all states that you can drive on their roads , if its not legal in vic that doesnt make any difference"

What engine do you have. If it is a RB26DETT then I thought they came standard with electronic boost control of some sort. Not sure but would be worth finding out.

I have RB26DETT in the car...and NO...it doesn't come with EBC...it only has a restrictor to limit the boost at 06bar of boost

But could you not also argue that an EBC is a form of Boost Limiter. As for EPA, you could also argue that due to modern ECU fuel mapping that your emission levels would be well within their legal limits, as these maps are integrated into boost levels up to and over the boost cut in the standard ECU, for that type of car and that all of your emission control devices are still fitted to the vehicle.

And they will state Aust standards to you (ie tell you to pay your fine, put the car back to stock, and go away)

did you tell them to **** off on the spot? If you are on QLD plates and QLD licence there is nothing they can do from what I know.. Have they send you an actual notice?

they can't even cancel your rego if you refuse to go, so they have no enforcement over it.

My mate even got an EPA for his car.. which had VIC plates from when he lived down there.. he told them he'd moved up to QLD and they cancelled it..

its bullshit.. EPA QLD doesn't really do much from cars from what I have seen. I don't even know whether there is an EPA vehicle testing station up here?? I wouldn't be too worried.

They always talk it, but nobody ever receives the notice.

There is no national register for these sorts of things..

In-car EBC are illegal in QLD, it's the fact you can adjust from in-cabin that they don't like.

I was being roasted in NSW for something bullshit, at the end they turned around and said "anyway you're registered in QLD so it doesn't matter"

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
