When im doing 60 and i put it in neutral and coast down to a stop, the idle hunts quickly between 1000 and 1200rpm, then its stable when i reach 20 kmh, then idles fine when i stop. When tuning the power fc on the dyno last night, it was sometimes hunting up and down at idle with the car stationary. Took the idle control valve plug off and its perfect. Put it back on and its temperamental.

Can i control the Idle Control Valve with the Power Fc handcontroller?

Meke sure your ignition and fuel load points at idle are the same, different settings in adjacent cells will cause hunting...

But putting it into angel gear at 60ks??? Whats the point?

Robo I just wanted to ask what hp did you get when you ran 12.98?

I got fc, zorst, filter, boost up and fmic and i only got like 102.2 mph

We got upto 207rwkw when i ran the 12.98 and that was with a SAFC 2 and no power Fc. The lowest mph with the FMIC and the rest was 105mph. I drove it hard though.

Now with the 2530 its absolutely hauls ass. Big difference in power.

Presently im mucking around with the TPS settings. When stock it was reading .43 on the power fc. If i go higher, the idle increases. It seems to be getting worse, the idle speed on the power fc has no influence on the revs. I think i need to do some more testing.

I've recently fitted a PowerFC to my RB30DET.

My TPS setting flicks between 0.46-0.47v.

Full throttle shows 4.01v.

With the TPS set any higher I tend to get the occasional popping when decelerating due to the fuel cut not being enabled. The ecu thinks i'm still on the throttle.

~0.46 appears to be where its at as when I take my foot off the fuel cut always kicks in, no slight flat spots on the tip of the accelerator, especially when cold.

Prior to fitting the PFC I set idle to 650rpm via the idle air control valve with the plug disconnected.

The motor is fairly fresh and prior to dropping it in the car I did make sure I gave the Idle air control valve a really really good clean.

I had previously cleaned it around 40,000km's prior. It was already very dirty again. :(

At 650rpm the car does have a slight little pop every so often.

I set the idle to 700rpm with a/c off and 750rpm with a/c on.

Fuel cut a/c on return is 1050 and fuel cut a/c off is 1050.

The high fuel cut idle settings makes idling around car parks just that little bit nicer.

It idles perfectly smooth and you can actually see the idle drop fast from higher rev's then hang around 1050rpm for a sec then slowly drop to its set 700rpm.

I did have a similiar issue with the car stalling or almost wanting to stall when throwing it in neutral. I fixed it by following the manual and doing the 30min idle learn.

To get it right I had to initialise the PFC though. :D

Not so good if you have had a tune.

It wouldn't be too much of a drama if you write down the ign & fuel maps.

I did also have a little issue with warm starts where the car would spin over and over and not start. I fixed it by pumping 5ms in to the Cranking injector settings across the board. Starting is now instant.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks  
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
