1st Victorian SAU Event - Calder Park Drags

Well, we had our first official event, and it was fantatsic, we had an excellent turnout of about 20 cars entered, wide variety of skylines, as well.. from an R31 coupe to a 700bhp GTR.

A huge thanks to everyone who attended, and its great to see things are starting to pick up for skylines australia.

Hopefully some of the other states can follow our lead and get some events underway and show that SAU will be strong, calder park raceway was pleased at the support we had!

How'd you guys organise it? Did you hire out the 1/4 mile track on your own or was it just a bunch of the boys at a sceduled meet?

It was a scheduled meet, but we contacted calder park before the day so we could get club rates, and full use of the infeild. As well as trophies etc at the end of the day!

Yep, everyone was supposed to meet afterwards to have a meeting and collect trophies, but everyone took off.

nobody told us we were meant to meet afterwards.

In fact, nobody (including the Calder staff) had a clue about anything...

We weren't told until about 1:30 that we shouldn't have been sitting where everyone was sitting...

that the area was for 'drivers only' (shouldnt the drivers be in their cars??)

People who were with us were refused access to the infield, and told that they were only allowed into particular areas, and that was only if they had purple pit crew bands.

I ended up giving my purple band to someone so they could get back in.

There was no burnout comp which was a disappointment....

I vote that if we do this again, we do it at Heathcote. :uh-huh:
