Hey guys,

Well after all that (putting RB25 into R32), i think my thrust/release bearing has collapsed.

So while replacing that i wias thinking of just replacing the whole clutch..

Currently it has an Exedy Organic clutch in it. but i was reading up and saw the Exedy Cerametallic ones and they looked pretty nice. but when i googled it i couldnt find any info at all about it in australia.

The car will most likely be around the 200rwkw mark

What sorta clutch would you recommend?

only have around 400 for the clutch alone. fitting etc can be done at my house.

And where from?

Need it asap.

Thanks guys.

Hi guys, i have had alot of luck with the EXEDY SPORTS TUFF is your price range and have 33% more clamp with less pedal effort. another company that make a good clutch is DIRECT CLUTCH in brisbane. All of these can handle a hiding and do also grip even better. from my experiance anyway hope it helps cheers :)

if you have around 200rwkw no need to go for a really heavy duty clutch, just get a full face organic clutch with more clamping pressure, one i had in my old r33 was ~$250 from racebrakes, all up including fitting and gbox oil it was 580 installed.

krzysiu - did that come with the flywheel? (as a kit)?

I'd like to order it at that price and get my mechanic to fit it, I don't think he can get them in so cheap... plus $300 or so to install he reckons.. geh should do it myself heh.

No, the flywheel was just sent away to be machined. $900 is still very good, if u minus intallation you will get it for nearly nothing.

I rang other places for the same clutch and they were quoting me rediculous prices such as $1400 for the same thing...

If you need Benny's contact, drop me a PM

:(

yeah it would have held 180-200rwkw for sure..

maybe prices have gone up, i cant give u exact details of the clutch as i gave the reciept to the new owner when i sold that car, but it was definetly 550 installed.. that was a few years ago though! maybe 2-2.5years ago now.

uas (http://www.nismo.com.au/) have a kit for 495 exchange that would suit that sort of power too, have a look at their site.

I run a 9puk ceramic 1 tonne clutch that feels quite nice. :D

Cost me $600 early last year. Not installed.

Its what Tim recommended when he owned Horsepowerinabox.

Whatsisname has been running this clutch behind his rb25 for quite some time making 280rwkw I think now??

how much we lookin at on labour etc?

My mechanic said $300.. I thought he was ripping me till other 'reputable' places said $500 and stuff. Remember to ask when getting the quote if they're including machining the flywheel which I think is necessary or atleast preferable when changing clutches.

Who's Tim?

I got quoted $550-600 for a Exedy heavy heavy-duty 6 puk ceramic clutch kit today - apperantly it's the same clutch in a driftnats silvia that's had it in for over a year ... I think that's the same one krysiu has.

Does 6puk brandname vs 9puk generic really make a difference? Or is it all much a muchness?

Your rb30 would be pulling some serious torque eh Cubes? Is it the RB equivalent of the one I pasted in one of my posts above?

the more pucks the better in terms of useability, but it wont hold as well (usually doesnt matter because most of the time the car doesnt have enough power to make it slip anyway)

300 to install a clutch is a fair price but not much more.tell us how that clutch is when you get it..

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
