really Need HELP ... if u can help.. i just got my car bak from the auto elec to replace my alternator and i just got it bak and went to take it home only to find its running like a DOG box, as soon as i hit 3000rpm or when turbo kicks in it starts to coff and splatter and sometimes just stop altogether , it sounds a lil like a fuel issue but i have no IDEA wat it is .

Its got no balls and sounds like it struggling to get anywhere past 3000rpm . the idle sounds a lil out too i really dont know what happend , it was only an Alternator after all nothign special ..

What do i ask the Auto elec to do ? or wtf is WRONG wif it ?

Do i need a Dyno tune again or somthing ?

I wouldnt think u would need to tune your car again after a alternator change .

I am really pissed off at the moment and need some help on wat it could possibly be or how i would go about fixin it ?

Any1 had a problem like this PLEASE HELP !!!!

If I had customers like you I think I would like to change trades aswell.

Getting angry doesn't fix the situation at all, And im sure it was just a honest mistake. I once put a return oil line off a vacuum pump on to an altenator and did not realise it had the slightest crack, and it sprayed oil everywhere. But we were all adults about the situation and it got sorted out.

But if your going to act like a child well, the trader will eventually tell you to piss off and take it to a mechanic because its out of his field - whether it is or isn't.

Cheers

Sumo

U tell me how u would feel if u had half ur Plenum Hanging off by just the hose then pay for a BS repair ...

I dont care wat u think if mechanics/Auto electricians cant Check over and do their work properly before handing it to the customer i wouldnt be in that FIELD either.

Be good to see u without a car over the Long weekend because of someone not puttin everything bak together . It coulda been anything.

All this guy is saying, is that they should check the car before giving the keys back. I would be pissed to.

Anything could have happened while driving back home and if it did, i doubt that the mechanics would have owned up to it. If they are honest they might but chances are they would say "it was like that when you brought it here"

yer well its all good :)

Thanks for your comments guys . Sumo (auto elec  ) and i have spoken and we have come to an agreement that it was an unfourtunate incident that lead to my car being 'Incomplete'.

Anyway, yer im not to happy but its all good i have ppl i can turn to for ideas and theorys of wat i can do to diagnose the problem.

Car is running great now  the dash lights and everything has gone more bright and im sure the spark to the coils is much more fluid. . All i need now is my turbo upgrade :) i dont wanna have to pull out the credit card :)

Happy easter Every1 !

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
