Head unit problems... translation help pls?

Hi guys'n'gals

Having a little trouble with my head unit in that it won't play my MD's - puts up an "Error 17" on my display... anyone come across this on any other Carrozzeria head units?

I did a google search and found this link...

But it's in Japanese, just wondering if anyone is able to decipher what's being said? It seems to mention 'Error 17' but don't know if the problem was solved..

Daniel, that link doesn't give much info at all, and it sounds as though you're having the same problem as me. My Panasonic CD/MD doesn't read MD's 80% of the time and just produces an error message, and when I asked the guy at SuperAB about it he just said it's junk... throw it away and get a new one! Pfffff, typical Japanese response but he's right. Something to do with the optics, is it an old unit? Maybe mid/late 90's?

Really? So it can't be fixed?? I'm one of the few ppl here that has MD's as their portable music of choice, so i got about 30 discs, and was really happy when i was told it was a CD/MD head unit... I'd really like to have the MD option still.... bugger

EDIT: Tried about 5-6 discs i reckon? I might just give them all a shot... this is really annoying

Gohan, I have one of those Carrozzeria 1din MD headunit (opens up to 1.5) with 12 stacker, 3 way rear speakers, front speakers and tweeters...CBF looking up the model number. If your interested make an offer, I've had it new since 2002. I'm looking to replace my sound system with an Apline Headunit+HD and stacker .

I take it MD headunits aren'T readily available in AU then? Why is that?

troy yeah? um... it's tempting because i really would like the MD option. I actually got a 12 stacker as well, which no-one seemed to know about. I picked the car up, opened the boot and go, where'd this come from? So that was a nice little surprise.

I'll have a squizz around the audio shops here, see if they can do anything or what other MD units they got... but if you could get a model number, just so i can look it up a bit, that would be great. I really have no idea what head units and speakers cost.....
