Glad to hear it Mark.

The low down grunt of the ute definately takes a lot of turbo drivers by surprise. Felt as quick as my old S15 when you took me for a spin.

BTW my "R" is now in the docks going through the customs crap.

Hope to have it ready by Xmas.

One of the only runs I've had with a Commadore was with a GTS 300kw one.

Rolling start from the bottom of 2nd gear, it was a close run - very close, but at the top of third I was pulling away JUST.

I must say that they sound GREAT, I'm not sure if it had a standard exhaust, but damn it sounded good.

At that stage I just had full exhaust, 12psi and pod with CAI.

I have no idea what 1/4 times I'd do - I'd say about a 15-16 sec pass due to my crappy reaction time !!! :bahaha: :bahaha:

And I have no idea what sort of rwkw I have, once I get a new ECU I'll do a dyno run :)

why? because everytime i go on a cruise with a bunch of commodore killers me and mates never see any of it happening. So either i cruise with the wrong crowd or maybe they just race slower commodores than mine.

Most cases i hear of commodores being beaten its because they're a dressed up 6cyl auto banger.. :D

eitherway its a good kill, and i am still curious as to his 1/4mile times.

for those are gonna go wrx hunting, waite 2 months so i can then bring it out any time rather than work around person we've lent ours too :D

Hicks ran mid 14s when I was at the wed night drags. He might have run a low 14? It wasn't a nice track prep and the commo's & HSV 300kw/255's most were in the mid/high 14's for that night. Couple of good ones (worked) got low 14's and there was one or two in high 13's. There was quite a good turn out of holdens and it gave a pretty fair comparison of performance (ie: everyone had to contend with the same crap track).

I don't think you can muck around with the 5.7s if you expect to beat them on the street. I've won against most of the different models, not lost yet. However there are some very fast ones on the street that will show a clean pair of heals to my dunger.

my dad just bought a VY SS last week or so.. gave him a run down tonkin hwy sunday and he got me by a car length or so at 160 odd km/h

i had it pinned to redline through all the gears whereas he only took it to 4k5 each time.

Summoner: they got much more grunt after that?

gunna have to ask him for a turbo or intercooler for xmas i think.

:D :D

Whats goin on with the track lately, My best time was 14.2.

I plan to get highish 13's this wednesday. Gonna chuck my stock rims on the back so I can do a bit of a burn out before hand.

One of the blokes I work with is gettin me some slicks. Shit yeah!

That wed they skimped on the VHT for sure. The factory time for the gtst r33 is 14.2, I'd say a factory claim like that translates to a high 14 or low 15 on a night like that at the plex.I pulled a better time than most of the Commo's there and that makes sense because I beat them on the street too.

Whilst on the subject - my mate just picked up his brand spanka VY Clubbie - HSV have done a good job in improving the suspension and handling...

I had a few runs with him yesterday and I had him to about 160 then he slowly started to creep on me (I only have exhaust & pod)

Ciao

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
