World Record....?

Recommended Posts

Guest DIRTgarage

In the Dyno shootout comp. yesterday, TWO.06L recorded a mind blowing 627bhp.

which is 467kw. Is this a new World Record for a GTR running 2530 turbos, or for that matter low-mount turbos alltogether. Jim from Croydons is sure it is but we would like to find out for sure. By the way nitrous-oxide running cars do not qualify and must be running on jap pump fuel or equavilent.(we ran VP 103)

Chunky. Not bad for what I heard was a stock bottom end :P

Oh and I doubt that Jap bowser fuel is as oxygenated as the VP gear, how much timing did you end up winding into it?

Good results anyway, time to do some benchpress practice with gearboxes :)

4% more than what we had?? I think?

don't think we have ever said it's a stock bottom end? We will have different box again for next event, should be better.

or as a quick reference:

Posted by: Guy R

Here are the results from the low-mount turbos, on mine and Henry's car that we both own!

My car (2.6litre, wild cams)

Max on 2530s - 560bhp

Max on T618Z - 672bhp

Henry's car (2.8litre, mild cams)

Max on 2510s - 554bhp

Max on T517Z - 635bhp (only 1.5bar)

Conclusion, from 2 cars on rollers:

The HKS GT2510/2530 will struggle to get 600bhp.

The Greddy T517Z and T618Z are noticeably bigger, still low-mount and easily capable of flowing 600+ to 700bhp.

The above are facts as tested on a MAHA dyno in England.

Hey now that you mention it....

Phoenix's Power (http://www.phoenixs.co.jp/bigsite/home.html) have got a few near that power figure. From their power rankings:

1) BNR32 - R34 N1 turbos, PowerFC, cams etc : 645.5PS (636.6HP/474.7kw)

2) BNR34 - HKS GT-SS, PowerFC etc : 634.1PS (625.4HP/466.4kw)

Will check out some others.

    • Right, but not just first manual, but the shifter is on the right (wrong?) side for the land of the free too.... Anyway, good find, 260RS got rare as soon as people realised what was under the skin
    • Thanks for posting this up, and its always nice to see a way to use a newer/more available part to keep the old stuff going. One thing I want to highlight from your write up is that you used the old gear. I am pretty sure the RWD R34 and AWD R33/34 senders would have different number of teeth because they have difference diff ratios; can you confirm? Just something for people to keep in mind if they make this change
    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
