When i first got my car, i got my spark plugs replaced with some laser platinums. I dont remember the workshop regapping them, what gap would these be straight from the packet, before i go and pull them all out?

The are : NGK Laser Platinum Premium - PFR7B 4853

They are a silver pack with "Adjust spark plug gap to engine makers specifications" on the side.

Thanks guys

hi every body good forum keep it up just from experience i would not go platinums because the rb series engines have a very weak spark you have to close the gap to .8mm and then sometimes they still misfire under load i have a rb30 vct 25 head and i use a nippondenso spark plug worth $2.50 each and get about 10000 klm out of them they also throw a fatter spark which help to ignite this engine has standard coils and producers up around 400 hp @10 psi @the wheels the plug numbers are k20pru11 or a hotter plug k16pru11 or k20pu11 and k16 pu11 with out the resistor

I remember whatsisname was making around 250rwkw at the time. He went from the BCPR plugs to the BK NGK plugs as apparently thr BCPR's were breaking down.

I generally only ever go the BCPR6E plugs.

They are pre-gapped to 0.8mm and are V-groove plugs.

The BCPR6ES plugs don't have the V-groove. I have had a few problems with these breaking down slightly on 16psi. Well not sure if they are breaking down but yer hessitations.

They can be had from motor traders for $16.80 for 6.

I have in the past ran them up to 30,000km's. They were still fine when I pulled them out and didn't notice any difference with the new plugs.

Obviously higher horsepower (i was only on ~164rwkw) would have them needing to be replaced a lot sooner.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
