Just interested if anyone has any USEFUL information on Installing an RB25DET into an LJ Torana, I've sourced mounting kits from ROD SHOP in victoria for the RB30, also sourced diff soloution, 28 Spline LSD VS Commodore from DIFF LAPPING in brisbane, and a few other things. I guess my main concern is the size of the gearbox tunnel in the 2 Door LJ vs the SII Gearbox from the skyline being quite a bit bigger than the stock 4S M21. I'm still looking at a few solutions to intercooler plumbing, suspension and breaks(front & rear). This car is going to be built purely for weekend street enjoyment and a bit of drag work, so the powerscale i'm looking for will roughly be about 350-400kw at the fly. Any ideas on engine mods or mounting this thing would be really appreciated. :D

i go there for my car and im soon gonna do a RB20 convert but if i have the cash i will do a 25 to my UC ;)

yeah thanks, checked it out. theres already a forum up there for the RB25det into an LJ. Starting to become a pretty popular engine, good part about it though, is with the numbers comes the cheaper parts. but who can compare 5yr technology to a 30yr old tractor engine?? ha ha. good ol triples, they go alright.

30 year old tractor engines ? ? ? I built some tough red 6s over the years and pound for pound they go hard if you know how to build them up. Eldred Norman ( of Norman Superchargers fame ) was running 9 seconds on the quarter mile in the sixtys on grooved slicks ! ! ! ! Love old Holdens and Red motor sixes ! ! ! !

    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
