Race__24
Hi guys, I think i have a problem. when i put my foot to the floor in my R33 GTS-t it's not reving out very smoothly. There tends to be a couple of flat spots between 3000 and 5500 RPM. Is this the problem discussed in the coil problem threads or something different as it isn't backfireing or anything, just lacking a bit of go. There aren't any real mods to the car, just air filter and exhaust. Any help greatly appreciated Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/74276-not-so-smooth/ Share on other sites
danieltangtc
Since you cannot hear 'POP' sounds, its not a backfiring problem. Sounds like a boost leak problem to me....have you checked your piping. Try to use a boost gauge to tell...this will tell you if it is. Does your engine splutter like its out of fuel? You running stock boost? Coxy_
Is your car auto?? Ive got an auto and I get the same problem, in 2nd and 3rd gear I was told its either the ecu which may have some putting some flat spots on higher boost and also the auto box's clutch packs or something are gripping and slowing it a little?? Race__24
Yeah, i'm running stock boost. It could be a fuel problem. I'll take the coil packs out and inspect them anyway then check my hoses, then the fuel pump. I just hope it's not one of those thing that i end up replacing everything before finding the problem!!!! Fidel04
mine does this in every gear in the auto when it is above stock boost. but is perfect on stock boost. I have replaced AFM, Coil Packs, Plugs etc but it jus seems it can not handle the excess boost Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/74276-not-so-smooth/#findComment-1366324 Share on other sites
SLY25T
Fair chance its the ecu backing of the timing when hitting high boost to stop boost spiking, detonation etc. Mines does the same thing.. (manual) Get a tunable ecu and ur away.. just a sugestion not saying thats your prob..
