hey, is there anyone living in Japan (Rezz etc) that would be willing to go to a parts yard, acquire me an R34GTT 4 door STOCK exhaust, and post/ship it to Australia? Since they are such a small value item (I have have seen them on Ebay for as little as $10), it is very restrictive to get one of the forum sponsors to bring it in, as they have to declare value and pay duties plus GST on the value + shipping cost. If it is a 'personal gift' it avoids such costs

Your problems gonna be size/weight. It might cost in the region of A$150 - 200 to get it to AU (by EMS or similar)... then theres the eeerm... $50 - 100 fee that I'd need to source an exhaust system then package and lug the thing down to the Post Office. It's not the type of thing you can just 'do on a casual Sunday arvo' you know? Can't you find one in AU? They must be a dime a dozen down there. Alternatively you could put it in a container full of other cars/parts and pay nothing, but I don't have a container going to AU anytime soon :D

Rezz, you would think there are some around, but I can't even find a 2 door one, let alone a 4 door one :D .... I have rang EVERY import yard, wrecker and compliance workshop in Adelaide, and a heap of places in Qld, NSW and Vic. Nothing. Nada. I'm getting a tad desperate. Well not quite desperate, but disconcerted at least. If you could get me one here for say $250 I would be happy with you keeping whatever profit you can make  ..... and you would be helping a fellow SAU member - for which I would be eternally grateful!

On a side note, have any of you guys in Japan ever heard of the radio DJ Chris Glenn? He is originally from Adelaide, and his Japanese wife (originally from Nagoya) is sort of my adopted sister.

and the best rates I can get from a trader (like Slidewize Imports off SAU) is about $200 to get it to Australia, then $100 to freight from Melbourne to Adelaide. I just don't want to pay that much. Plus there is the issue with them sourcing one from Japan, which would normally be off Yahoo or Ebay, then have to pay internal Japan freight etc to get it to the shipping container.

checked it out - shipping of an exhaust by these guys is over $400 - sheesh!!! My whole car cost $1,200 to ship directly from Nagoya to Adelaide - wtf???

Yeah, $400 is by plane I'd imagine...

It *might* be $50 - 100 cheaper if you send it by ship, but then you'd have to wait 2 - 3 weeks for it to arrive, maybe more. But at the end of the day you're still paying at least $100 or more for the exhaust, then at least $200 odd dollars for shipping. Save yourself the hassle and drop $100 on a car dealer willing to let you 'borrow' their GT-T exhaust for a day or two... it's just for compliance isn't it?

there is not a single R34GTT for sale in SA that I know of, and I have already tried the hire or borrow line with interstate workshops. Hrrrrm - I will just have to keep on hunting :P Thanks anyhow Rezz.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
