idle bearing and tensioner

hey any of you guys had ur idle bearing and tensioner replaced? is it actually necessary as its damn expensive....but my mechanic said its highly reconmmended at 100000Kays.....any help appreciated

a seized bearing can result in a snapped bolt....

Dont mess with the servicing of a timing belt. It can result in a dead motor....

I've got my 100,000km service coming up soon to, & when I was getting quotes for the service it seems different reputable workshops have different views on this. The responses were generally either "yeah we recommend it" or “we’ll only replace it if its sounds like it’s on its way out”. Personally I'm not going to skimp out on the $150 or so, knowing what a seized bearing can do.
