Hi guys im going to hit the dragstrip soon for the first time just after a bet of advice and an estimate on what eta to expect. maunual r33 gts25t mods to engine are in sig. suspention setup is completely stock. I will be using hankook ventus k104 tyres 235's on 17" rims.

What tyre pressure should I run with these tyres/rims?

Does the drag strip have a lot more grip then the street? (eg good street road surface.)

Can seems to launch well when you get it right to many revs wheel spin all the way though 1st to lower revs and it bogs down. does not diff hop on the street but will it on the drag strip with stock suspention?

Probably hard to say but with a reasonable driver what 60 foot times should I expect with this setup and what ETA.

:)

Going by your mods, id be looking at a mid 13 and if you hook up real well (say 2.0 60') a low 13 should be on the cards.

I always find the track to have a lot more traction than the street. Its the only time i can open it up in first gear, on the street it always spins.

Good luck

Thanks Robo's low thirteens would be nice. Hopefully I can beet my mate in his stock VX R8 manual clubby.

Start around 25psi and heat them up nicely.  Drop them down if you are struggling for traction, but honestly i didnt find much beneficial with pressures, they just need heat.

So a burnout before a run will be benificial with these tyres? I was under the impression that it would not make any difference as its a road tyre not a slick.

:)

its a must

when i leave my house and my tyres are cold i can spin all the way to theend of 3,rd just about but give them a couple of minutes and 3,rd is out of the question and second becames very hard and im running 255,s 17" advan smokahamas

i to want to take mine down the strip but ive got realy bad wheel hop ever since i changed wheels

cheers chris

if street tyres get out of their efficient operating temperature then you'll be driving on ice...with street tyres they are designed to operate well from cold and do not like to much heat in them....putting too much heat into them will only slow you down IMHO

They will be cold lining up for your run so putting a little heat into them shouldn't hurt.

i changed pressures from 38psi down to 20 and it made no difference, (255/40/17)

most low profile tyres have very stiff sidewalls such as mine, so even if u drop the pressures it wont do much.

Thanks can anyone using hankook k104s confirm this did it make a difference with the tyres left down? how stiff are the sidewalls?

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
