Head unit wont work in Australia...with radio at least, unless you get an FM expander, but then its a bitch becaue its like, 80.3 is nova and stations are expanded 10 or 20 Mhz depending which channel is free...confusing to say the least, but if you do your presets, it works out all good.

Yeah thats what l was planning on doing to start with. I don't listen to the radio that much, more to my iriver (with fm transmitter)....radio gets biggest work out when l go to the drive in with the gf.

We'll see how things go, l like the new JVC range......might go window shopping this weekend!! :( Esp after seeing how much needs to be done to get the dash pieces off.....if l've gotta take it all out, l might as well get a new head unit at the same time.

Anyone put one of those cooler kits from just jap on their stagea??

if so how were the results, as in did the piping all match up fine for the stagea??

Don't know whether to get one, or just leave the stock cooler there coz of front bar & space behind it (as l don't really want to hack up the kit)

It should come with splits already, I used pioneers kevlar speakers and splits. They fit nicly and the splits are hidden where the original ones were on the sides near the front window.

Rear doors I used 6.75" 250W

EDIT: I got mine on ebay saved heaps. 6.25 or 6.75 like mine both will fit anyway. Small adjustments are no big deal with bigger speakers to get them to fit.

The pioneer's the 6.25" one's???

I'm thinking about a set of Hertz HSK165's for the front, and ESK165's for the rear, just wanna make sure they fit first in the factory positions. Hiding the amp will be the biggest hurdle at this stage l think

I went one step further and built a custom 2 x 10" sub box plus Amp in the boot. a bit dodgy using just a jigsaw, but i covered it in similar carpet to the wagon and it looks like a bought one. I had pics on here of it, but they've gone walkabouts, i'll get some new ones.

I didn't lose too much boot space, and it fits under the lugage cover, so no crims can spot it.

Wierd question l know.....but

With no. plate mounting, which screw hole's do u use (ie: the outer one's, or the inner one's)

and do slimline plates at the back look alright???

and finally the car reach's brissy on monday, so only a couple of weeks (2-3 l'd guess) to go and l'll have it!!:D

Worst thing is it won't be in time for the melb meet up :)

*rant*

Some theiving bastard on the ship stole my head unit & dvd player.

Got told today by ernie, did a good job too, no scratch's anywhere, so could tell they had the time to do it right (nice of them :D )

So now, l have to start looking for a head unit & dvd player by the looks of things. Glad they sent me the TV monitor & remote, least one part is there

*end rant*

Oh, but good thing is its being worked on now for compliance!! Yeah!!

Man thats a right royal bitch. That'd suck...... can transit insurance cover that?

Im having 4 x 250w Pioneer 6inch speakers put into the doors this Friday, with my Clarion head unit installed. The amp will be installed underneath my drivers seat and the 6-stack CD player will be bolted under the front passengers seat.

The subwoofer box will be strapped down in the back, but set up for a quick and easy release and removal. I love my bass, so the sub becomes part of the car.

Fact is, the standard speakers are crap, and dont cut the mustard. Even on AM band with talking there is a heap of vibration etc. Nasty stuff.......

Not sure on insurance covering it....we're talking to them atm, not looking great though. Even if l get say 3-400 i'll be happy as that will get me a decent head unit.

Oh nice bout the speakers, l have some type-r splits & type-r coax's ready to go in, just working out what amp l'll go, as l'm not sure whether to put it under the passenger seat or in the boot.

oooooh.....and my custom plates were ordered on monday....:) :)

For your info, my complete install, with 4 new $130 speakers, installing head unit and facia panel, and bolting the 2 items under the 2 front seats, will be $650 to $700. Full days labour included.

Edit: $120 each, on special. The speakers are Pioneer TS-A1681S, 260w, 16cm diameter x 57mm mounting depth. 4-way with tweeter & 'Supertweeter'. Meant to be great with BASS

Thats not a bad price. I think l might need a new facia plate if l find a dvd/cd player combo unit as opposed to going one of each.

I've got a few friends who are in that industry, so l'm only up for the cost of a slab, a couple of pizza's and a night in the garage helping out!! :)

NRGIZD, that sucks dude...

I will be posting up my rant about this same thing in a few weeks time...I'm pretty positive my screen will be taken :P Oh well not much we can do about that....

But on a positive note, we are getting my car moved to Osaka, where it will hopefully be gettin on a ship October 20th :P

Hey cool.....how did it look??? Damn l'm getting excited now....not long to go!!

Yeah don't hold your breathe bout your tv bro, according to my rep over there, it's happening more and more now, and it doesn't matter what liner it is on.

He (my rep) actually sent me via post my TV & remote, so at least l had that. Might be worth your while talking to your importer about getting stereo items taken out (or at least face plates) and sent to you via reg. mail.

NRGIZD, what dock's was yours at in Japan? :P

Just had a talk to the broker then and he said while they can get it taken out, it will be getting shipped through Kiwi Car Carriers, which means I automatically have shipping insurance...when the car arrives at Osaka, all items will be logged, when it arrives in Australia, if it is not in the same condition or does not meet the initial report from Japan, they will give me money :P

I'm assuming thats what you have aswell NRGIZD?

    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
