Al, thanks for the info (only noticed your post today). I did read something a little while ago about someone doing the hiflow with VG30 exh housing and getting good results. I'll look into it as well - and yes, it's also added to my confusion :)

porschephile, definately post up the dyno chart from your friends car if you can - i'd be very interested to have a look. I assume that your friend has the GT2835 with the .87 turbine housing?

Also, just having another look at the Nengun website. They have the 2835's on special for $2,560 delivered to Sydney ;)

One question though, they have 2 versions of the GT2835 with A/R 0.87...one with Strong Actuator attached 80mm diameter and the other with 100mm diametre.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly does the actuator do and which choice would be better for my application?

Come on guys - help a novice out :P

Thanks!

The wastegate actuator controls the amount of boost that is pushed through the turbo by pushing excess exhaust gases through the wastegate. The harder the spring is the harder it will be to open the wastegate thus controlling boost.

Not sure which actuator is better, as i am note that technically minded, i usually ask the turbo experts that type of question and allow them to make the decision for me :).

About my combo and your decision, if you could hold off for about 3 weeks i should most definately have a dyno graph to post up. Head has already been sent to be ported, turbo sent to be upgraded, ecu out to be upgraded, cams have arrived, it's all moving quite nicely :D

    • Finally have an update on this  Rack came in this week so I did a test fit. You do need the S chassis bushings since the rack is 5mm thinner than the R33 rack. The main issue I foresaw and ran into was one of the hardlines not lining up properly with there it's meant to on the rack. After some gentle coercing and bending very slightly, I managed to get it to fit without any kinks and keeping the hardline pretty much in all of the factory mounting positions. I did have to unbolt all of the soft mounts to move the line around so I could snake it out and bend it safely but it looks good to me for now. I'll update when the rack is fully bolted in and functioning.
    • I hear this thread needs an update following its adventures last Wednesday!
    • What are you thinking makes a sequential shit to drive on the street? About the ONLY thing I can think of, is if you're wanting to be able to roll up to lights in third or second and pop it straight into neutral, or you want to come down two or three gears, say out of 5th and back to second, but they shift quick enough it doesn't really matter
    • I'm not a drag racing guy, but that was a good watch. Didn't Ibrahim's car have some cooch! But the big question is....WTF is with so many of them running without seatbelts!
