evening people, I just watched Andrew Cowin do a 4.61 sec pass at WSID. I dont think I will ever get over it!!!!!!! :P I had never seen a top fueller before in real life, the shock wave almost knocked me over. His time is the quickest ever recorded in Oz. Well done to him and his huge crew. He is the bravest man I have ever seen. Took a video...the shockwave hits the camera so its abit shakey, I will post it up 2nite.

Can't disagree there. It's the best feeling when first watching those big guns live. I also loved standing a few metres behind the top fuellers when they are getting set up/started in the pits. I was blown away - literally :P

Congrats to Cowin and the team.

Hehe, another convert! Top Fuellers can only be experienced live ... TV  or video cannot convey the experience.

the experience was unbelievable!!! I cannot believe that a human sits in that rocket and survives the trip........let alone controls the thing!!! :P Surely he has to do damage to this internal organs from the Gforce and the shockwave??!!!!?? Great way for me to be introduced to the BEASTS.......I am half way home and we are still pumped from what we just saw!!

Top fuelers are awsome, scared the shit out of me first time i saw one!

What mph did he do on the 4.61?

MPH was 322.96.

Bman....2rismo will know all the specs on the car.......Rocket Industries/Cowin Topfuel. The fastest accellerating man made object ever. :P

That's farken quick ! Holy crap. Bloody good effort.

Anyone know specs of the car ?

Yeah, it's running an RB26DETT bored out to 500 cui, with Nismo N1 Rootes supercharger at 50 psi and stock Nissan twin magnetos. He added Nulon octane booster to bring it up to 90% nitromethane.

The "gutbuster" (braking) is what causes internal organ/detached retina damage !

These guys have titanium balls, in an inconel scrotum.

I love the sensation of every hair on your body standing on end from the SPL that only top fuellers can deliver... it's a 'must-see-before-you-die' for everybody.

Its been a long time between drinks for me with the topfuel boys.......Winfield triple challenge at eastern creek raceway to be precise.....back then running a 6 was insane.........they are much more powerful cars now and incredible to experience in the flesh. All drug addicts should have this as part of their re-hab....as the drugs will never go near the high these things give you.

yes.......im hooked!

Stace will post vid soon......its only recoreded on a Canon still camera but its better than nothing.

    • Impossible to remove the housing while turbo is installed on the manifold on the engine. So I have to do it anyways. I plugged it so there will not be any debris in there. Will vacuum aswell
    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
