there a standard dick smith job replacement, blue leds look good on the recycle and demist buttons cos ive done that already, but dont use leds for the main lighting, it wont light up properly because blue leds have a very narrow lighting angle

yeah, in my article I put a note at the bottom, telling people to sand the led lense abit to help disperse light.

sorry to drag an old thread up.....

I have searched the web and found a supplier with incandecnt and led options for climate control and instrument light in a range of colours

autolumination.com

the #74 and neo-wedge look like they will suit, can anyone confirm sizes for R33?

doubtful. The bulbs need a fair amount of wire on them to coil onto the original holder, which looks nothing like anything standard.

I thought Narva.com.au might have something, but none of their globe-holders will work either!

There's another thread somewhere on this topic too.

Today I put new grain-of-wheat globes in, with blue silcone caps from Narva. It lights up a dim blue...

I also fixed the demister and hazard button lights, which had similar rubber caps on them. My blue looks like N1GTR's picture above, whereas the blue cap on the hazard bulb makes the icon light up a nice bright white. Very similar white to the tacho/speed guages.

Damn Nissan and their special globes, globe-holders, and silicone caps! I will never get this fixed! =-///

I wonder what the current s15 and other nissan models are using these days...

Im sure they would have completely changed over to LED's but if not then maybe theres a chance they are using the same type still...does anyone know?

If you follow the link in my post, the neo wedge holders halfway down the page are complete assembly with the grain of wheat bulbs in many colours. The #74 bulbs are for the dash backlight and also available in LED

These are used in Sentra and Maxima in the USA .... so I was asking do they look the same and how is size compared to R33s before I order some.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.

    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
