I've heard it means Race bred dont know if its true or not.

Why do ppl assume that a Japanese designed and manufactured product has an English name :lol:

In all honesty i have no idea what the RB means. But i do know that all RB engines are an "in-line" 6 cylinder engine. Another English name for RB could be Rail Block :P.

Uh huh. Each manufacturer can create their own scheme.

sine we all like nissans, rb, vg and sr mean nothing, they are merely series numbers. If they ever did stand for something, its long lost now.

I know (some) toyota engine codes (and goole knows the rest - google know all....), but didn't know they messed them up.

right

lets sort all this out for ya

rb20e -> 2 litre efi

rb20de -> 2 litre dual ovc efi

rb20det -> 2 litre dual ovc efi turbo

rb25e -> 2.5 litre efi

rb25de -> 2.5 litre efi dual ovc

rb25det -> 2.5 litre efi dual ovc turbo (with or without vvt - depending on year of engine)

rb26dett -> 2.6 litre dual ovc efi twin turbo

rb30e -> 3 litre efi

rb30et -> 3 litre efi turbo (the rb30e with a turbo - done by holden for the vl commonwhore)

rb30de -> custom hybrid of rb30e and either rb25de, rb25de with vvt or rb26dett heads efi

rb30det -> as above with turbo

Nissan makes engine identification easy, as all the letters and numbers have meanings.

RB = series of engine - don't think it means anything in particular

20 / 25 / 26 = capacity (20~1998cc / 25~2497cc / 26~2597cc)

D = Double Overhead Cam (or DOHC)

E = EFI (Electronic fuel injection)

T / TT = Turbo / twin turbo

So a RB25DE would be a 2.5L Double Overhead Cam with EFI, non-turbo.

Hope that helps ;)

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
