Hey Peoples

Im so bloody upset :P I've just noticed now the thingy that records how many KM you've done has stopped moving... Also the little thingy that records upto 999km (the thing you can reset) has stopped changing as well.....

The speedo/tacho/everything else is all operational.

I believe it can stop if its been wound back ??? Is it possible whatevers making it move has just broken ??

I just sort of relised now "hmmm i've been on 84k km for a long time now" :D

Anyways just wondering is there anything i should check ? Should I just goto an auto electrician or something ?? will they be able to see if the car has been wound back ?

thanks heaps:)

I guess thats one way of looking at it :D

I'd prefer to know though when my 100k km service is due though, as oposed to taking it on the 200k km :)

All seems to be working again though :D

Wouldn't you like it to stop working? To keep the Km's down? :(

"Mmmm, unexplained bacon."

Had the same thing.Once it stopped working, then when I was sitting at the lights it started rotating on it`s own, weird.Has happened about three times in 140,oookm`s.Hasn`t done it for a while though.

bloody hell its stopped working again

doesnt seem to want to work again now..

anyone got any ideas at all ????????

woah!! exact same thing here!! you're going to find she'll stop and start quite unreliably of it's own accord now. Mine's stuck or shuffles around the 91K mark now!!!

ok peoples..

i stupidily took the dash out just now... kinda got abit bored and my car/garage is way to close to my room :D

anyways i got to the odometer thingy and it wouldnt go forward or backwards realy, i poked at one of the main cogs for a while and sprayed some of that wd40 stuff.. got anoyed.. then poked at it somemore.. and it seems to go forwards smoothly now. you can kinda see what the problem is.. just need to poke at it..

I havnt actualy put it back in the car yet  but i shall tommorow night after work, im fairly certain theres no way in hell im going to get the dash all back in, in one piece but im so excited to c if the odometer thingy works now ;)

i've got a feeling it will work but i will have screwed the speedo or something.. but its always exciting to see whats broken next :)

saved myself $200 if it all works however :) if not would of had to take out dash anyways... i guess.......

i stuck just the cluster bak in the car and the odometer/tripometer start rolling away nicely!!!!!!

its working like a charm now... tested it a few times now and it seems to be working fine, for now anyways i guess :)

yay !!!!!

just goto put the rest of the dash back in now grr :O

hmm the ol speedo is out by 20km now ;)

I had a play with it.. first it was below 20... then over by 20...

is there some trick to finding the right spot in the middle when you put the needle thing back on ????

sweet mother of god

i must of taken the cluster on/off my car atleast 30 times trying to find the right position for the needle.. it kept wanting to either jump forwards when you put the key in, or stay at 0 and be under 20km..

in the end i relised u can leave it in the car and just remove the plastic at the front ;)

it seems to be finaly working ok again :D i was comparing it the pfc and it seems to be off by like 2 or 3km but i dont think it was 100% to the pfc before hand.

:)

What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
