Hey guys

have never been able to get a 100% accurate list of what extra features/options etc the 40th anniversary R33 GTS-T's get

if anyone knows the exact specs, or has a list of all the options they got being a limited edition model etc, please post it up!

also, anyone that has 1, feel free to post up as many pics as you want, particularly interior shots!

thanks

yeah, that 1 has a standard spoiler? im lost :)

im after some of the other features...like will it have ABS, LSD etc....hopefully it has that strut brace etc....

im not sure if you are aware, but i decided to bid on it after craig's reccomendation, we were going only by the auction report etc...

im still tossing up wether or not to pay the 20,000yen to get the mechanic to osaka, for an inspection, and photos as well...

id speak to ben about this yeah?

it has ABS and passenger airbag standard. It also has different trim to standard series 2's (spe-shal :)).

I noticed there was a difference on yours, it looks like it has a GTR rear spoiler. Talk to Ben tomorrow.

What exactly is the 40 ann. skyline?

Did you ever find out the differences?

How can you tell if a skyline is a 40th ann.?

I drove a silver 98 model 40th anniversary. Didn't seem any different from normal s2 r33 but has the badges on the side, embroidered badges in the seats (that otherwise seemed pretty normal series 2 maybe different fabric tho). Had full body kit with a gtr style rear wing and a front bar that was some sort of hybrid between a normal series 2 bar and a gtr one.. (best way i can describe it, i'm sure you've seen them). Oh and had standard front and rear strut braces with skyline logo on em.

That one drove beautilfully and was by far the best r33 i looked at but it only had a genuine 21000 kms (opening the bonnet everything looked new- all the hoses had that shiney new rubber look to em).

Good luck :)

ok since posting this ive had my car for 2+months now...

learnt a lot about them, and the differences with 40thanniv and normal s2 aren't major, but they're nice.

as mentioned, badges on the rear pillars (exterior) and 40th anniv, badges stitched onto the front seats....GTR spoiler was an option (mine has it and its genuine ) as well as the different front bar also being a factory option (mine has the standard s2 bar which i like)

front and rear strut braces....and mine has a pretty rare factory momo with airbag that ive seen in 1 34gtr, a 33gtr and 1 other 33gts-t...i love it, really finishes off the interior nicely, and not many people have ever seen one before.

also the fact they are the only R33's made in 1998 is good too :D

So all 40thanniv had the exterior and interior badges? Just asking because i was looking at a s2 which the owner claimed to be a 40thanniv but i dont recall any badges? It had the standard front bar and standard spoiler. Also i think that its a '97 model. But it did have rear and front strut braces.

Mick, could you post some pictures of your interior/exterior and of the engine(i want to compare the strut brace and other features)?

*edit* And is there anyway to tell with the build plate? with the model codes or vin?

vin number running thru fast should tell. AFAIK all 40th ann r33 would have to be 98 models, that 97 model sounds like a scam... (cos wouldn't it be a 39th anneversary  )

as far as i know, they're only 98 models....so if its a 97....and doesnt have badges, chances are its not a 40th anniv.

This wasn't the car i looked at, but was the reason why i thought that a late 97 could be badged as a 40th.

and

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/...rch_distance=25

What would come up in the fast if it is a 40th?

Do the 40th have clear side indicators?

the white 1 may be a 40th anniv, but being 97 model i dont see how....

they dont come with clear side indicators, they will be aftermarket.

from waht ive been told the only way to confirm it as a 40th anniv model with fast is that its built in 1998....

the black 1 has so much aftermarket shit on it, its not unlikely that they've scored some 40th anniv seats, or even just stitched the badges onto their own seats as they're the same for normal S2....same goes for the white 1 really...

So you are saying that there is no difference in the vin numbers or model numbers of the 40th? only that they are built in '98?

But even if they are built in late '97, by the time they would have been complianced and pre-delivery inspected in japan, it would have been the next year and may of copped the badge treatment then. so it would be a 97built/98complianced car.

compliance is only an australian thing mate....its to bring the imports up to aus standards...has nothing to do with nissan really.

the 40th anniv. R33's are made in japan, for the japanese market, just like the other skylines...so they're badged as whatever they are from factory....

my 1998 R33 was complied in 2006...has absolutely nothing to do with it being a 98 model if you know what im saying....

there may well be a difference with the model codes in fast, but you try to find someone that knows how to fully decipher all that stuff...it might take you a while....there is general stuff in the FAST thread about what it all means, but a lot of it is general stuff and hasn't all been decoded so to speak.

as someone mentioned above, i doubt they made 40th anniv models in 97, as they would be 39th anniv...and such a car doesnt exist

Hmm that white one has all the 40th ann features. What might be possible is that they are late 97 build plate cars that were left over and redone as 40th ann models (i think thats why they did the 40th anns anyway - it was a runout of the last of the r33's).

do u have the VIN for the white 1, or are you just taking it as 97 because thats what he's put in the ad...

it might be a case of not many people ever hearing of 1998 built R33's, and either the seller doesnt know they exist, or he advertised it like that to avoid confusion....

get the VIN and check it in fast

also, i wouldnt be buying it based on it being a 40thanniv or not...mine is, but thats not the sole reason i bought it...i imported this 1 because it met all my other criteria, and the fact its a 40th anniv model just means it may hold a slightly higher resale value

hmmm...thanks for that. I was just trying too work out why a '97 has 40th as well? I will have to question the seller of this car as to why he believes its a 40th.

Still waiting on some pics of your car?

hehe my car just looks like a stock black series 2 with GTR wing and smoked side indicators....exterior wise it has a nismo muffler which is another factory option not many people go for, but it looks good

interior wise the major difference is the factory momo which i love

    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
