Thought id give a lil update...

After a bit of a hussle getting parts/ Panels for my car, so it can be sprayed.

Finally got the Bonnet to the guy roughly 2 weeks ago..

Gave him a call yesterday to find out that he is closing down..

And has until tomorrow to get out of the shop.

My car is not finished, early touched.

So now its being towed over to someone else in Fyshwick, which i have no idea about.

So as you can imagine, im not very happy and a bit scared on whats gonna happen next..

Goin out to the guy in Fyshwick today to suss him out.

So there we have it...

Oh and the girl who hit me, has got till th3 6/3 to get back to me on the summons papers.. or i have to take things even further.

So all fun and games..

sounds like you should get your car out of there and go somewhere that has a reputation and that wont mess you around. cut your losses and start over. it'll be expensive and you'll loose a bit of money, but you wont get messed around......

I agree however in this case which i have pointed out IT SHOULD NOT MATTER... if he is not at fault and as long as he had 3rd party insurance his insurance company should be doing ALL the work. I know when i got rear ended by some woman in a BMW with my first car i only had third pary insurance however i got her licence number and rego details passed them onto NRMA and they sorted the whole thing out all i had to do was go get a couple of quotes to fix the damage...

Although it would have probably been fixed quicker he had full insurance :D

ps this is not rage at anyone here it just amazes me that andrew has had to do some much of the running around himself considering he was not at fault

/end rant

Moral of the story:

Full comp insurance saves your time and your money!

I am surprised that Andrew is doing allot of the work and I admire his efforts but i felt he should have contacted the Insurance agency by now and get them do their job- what he pay's them for!!!

But Andrew - hats off too you!!!

getting parts- now the shit with spay painters

Frustrating!!!

Now that more serious money is being thrown around then

Let the insurance people step in and do their thing!!!

This is a lesson to us all!

(sorry dude but I had too!)

{No! I don’t work for an insurance agency}

Unfortunately this isn't always the case as I had full comp insurance when I had my accident and it still took 10 months and my constant chasing up to get something done about all the problems I had.

Well..

Ive tried my insurance company.. they wont help out..

So they can go stick themselves for a renewal..

Can turned up in my driveway today.. and is stored safely in my garage..

The car is in the worse condition you could imagine. scratched and marks that were never there before..

Rat poo in the engine bay. parts missing..

So im gonna have to start from scratch..

Goin for new quotes.. re-assessing the court case..

Will keep you all posted on how things go

    • If you take the top half of the intake off you can unbolt the flap off the shaft and leave the shaft in there blocking the hole. Then you can remove the little vacuum canister off from under the manifold and get a spare vacuum line to run to the ECU. I can take some photos of it later. Probably best to get the vacuum source to the ECU sorted first though. Mine all worked mint with the base map from the GTT an I've pretty much let the closed loop sort the fueling and took 1 degree out of the whole timing map.
    • This IS something you also have to configure in Haltech (or at least I did in the past when going from onboard-to-ECU map sensor and an external MAP sensor in haltech land).
    • I'm hoping it's something as simple as the ECU is looking for an external MAP sensor, but he is trying to use the onboard MAP sensor.
    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
