You may have noticed that BP in Melbourne have NO Ultimate fuel at the moment - and when I asked today when they would be getting some the reply was 'at least two WEEKS'!

Given that's what a lot of us put in our cars (I've always reckoned it is the best fuel) we are obviously going to have to use something else..

Going around to Shell, they still sell Optimax (which used to be advertised as at MOST 98 Octane) and also their new Optimax Extreme - 100 Octane, but having 5% ethanol...

Has anyone tried the Extreme in their skyline, and if so, how was it? Does anyone think the skyline would have trouble with the ethanol? Or should we not risk it and just use Optimax until BP comes back on line..?

Thoughts?

And I just found this has been discussed in the Vic part of the forum, ie http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=95232

SOme relevent bits of that are -

http://www.fcai.com.au/ethanol.php/2004/11/00000001.html

ie

Nissan vehicles manufactured from 1 January 2004 onwards are capable of operation on ethanol-blended fuels up to E10 (10% ethanol), providing that blending of the ethanol component to the petroleum component of the fuel has been properly made at the fuel refinery (ie there is no "splash-blending" of the fuel).

For Nissan vehicles manufactured prior to 1 January 2004, Nissan Australia does not recommend the use of E10 because of drivability concerns and/or material compatibility issues.

Reading the rest of the post, I won't be trying the Optimax Extreme....

Accourding to the ring around I just did, stations only have whatever is left in their tanks, once that is gone there will be no ultimate for weeks...

    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
