If you're serious about sport photography, then do consider the 20D, because its burst mode is 5fps, where as the 350D is only 3fps.

I planning to take martial arts photos, and within that split second, there's a huge diference between 5fps vs 3fps !!

yeah thats cool.

I just checked the quote i got there and it was for the 20D not the 350D.

The guy at the shop got me talking to one of the sports photograhers down here and he uses the 20D and or the 5D for his work.

SO might look at going down the road when i save a little more $$$'s :D

Cheers B

Yeah thats also what i was recommended from the guy at the camera shop as he said it would be easy while starting out.

Or he just wanted to sell me a more expensive camera

Well seeing as im not any good im sure i will need it to start :)

Hehehe I must be getting old .. cause I cant seem to take a photo of a hit to the head during a sparring competition.

Seriously, it's like taking photo of a boxing match. Trying to capture a hit to the head is almost imposibe, because even at 5fps is too slow. Might even need 8fps .. of course this doesn't apply to many sport .. because the contact time is so short...

train yourself not to use it

I will try Obi one

I can see your point with boxing and martial arts and i think its similar with motorsport, but i would love to be able not to rely on burts mode to get the shot!!!!

timing.

its better to take a few good shots when the moment is right, rather than 10000 shots where 90% of them are crap

having said that, do you think im better off waiting till i have enough to buy a 350D or 20D with the Sigma 70-300 lens or get a cheaper film SLR for about $400-600 and start with that???

Taking into consideration im starting out with photography and know about as much as i do about ballet, FARK ALL

Cheers GMB

the 350d has 95% of the features the 20d has, i dont really a see a point in you going for the 20d other than for the sake of it

the 350d has 95% of the features the 20d has, i dont really a see a point in you going for the 20d other than for the sake of it

so other than the menu set features/set up and the shutter speed there isn't really a huge difference between the do, just price tag???

Sorry for another dumb noob question

but when im looking at camera's online from places like Ebay what does it mean when it say's thre not a REBEL or REBEL XT???

What price should i look at spending on a new 350D and when im looking at getting a memory card would a couple of 1GB cards be fine and is there a brand that i should look for with advantages over the others? EG: read/write speeds

Cheers B

Canon Digital Rebel = 300D

Canon Digital Rebel XT = 350D

as for memory cards

kingston and sandisk are both good, and they both have their ranges of high speed cards

get a 1gb or 2gb card

Cheers darK

Hey, I would be extremely happy to have a 10% success rate :)

Hehehe .. OK, how about a challenge :) ?? Can I get you to go and take a photo of a pigeon in flight in manual mode .. try to time it at full wing span :) .. See how 'good' your timing is :) .. I'm just darn too slow .. and prefer to depend on a 5-8fps camera, if I want to take photos of fast moving object.

d-d have you had a chance to use it yet and if so what do you think for a beginner???

I'll have it in about 2 weeks. Ill PM you then :)

Canon Digital Rebel XT = 350D

Correct. However, i think the American version of the 350D is called the Rebel XT. Whereas the Australian version is just the '350D'.

So maybe there is a slight difference between the Rebel XT 350D and the Aussie 350D. Was what i found from readings...

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
