    The Gawk

Had a guy today at the estate agents ask questions of me for about 5 minutes about the car, then when I got home, the woman from across the road came running across to see what make the car was. Her whole family (inc 4 kids) were trying to guess what make it was and they were all wrong. Think the limo glass with clear front windows tends to get attention as it is something different on cars here
  2. I'll be there and will meet up with the Northerners Can actually drive on the cruise this time too
  3. Nice try Andy Thanks for the advice people, let the hunt begin Cheers, Al
  4. Saw a white Series I at Woodvale shopping centre this morning

    Guess What

Nice pick up and another one to join the Perth ranks Like the rims
  6. Nice wheels you suggested Alex Still the question though, where do you actually buy these things? I like the mesh style or 6-spoke like TE-37s (without the price tag) As for budget can go to around $2,000 for rims only although up to $2,500 if pushed but would prefer not to. Are local wheels suitable for the Stagea?
  7. I am in the market for some new rims for the Stagea and was wondering you all have sourced yours from? Is it better or cheaper to import yourself from Japan (or elsewhere) if buying Jap brand ones, source locally made ones using BA Falcon fitments, auctions or wherever else? Was looking at either Enkei BXM2 or RPF1 or 5Zigen Sports Engine SC300 or Pro Racer GN+ but have no idea where to source them from. Looking at 18" rims at this stage. Last set of rims I ever bought was 17 years ago for an imported Mazda 626 coupe so have no clue how things work these days. Cheers, Al
  8. Get the same thing when you turn the ignition off, the seat belts tighten up. Scared the hell out of my wife, the first time it happened to her Not sure why it does it though
  9. Was doing some more searching today including the excellent 1010 Tires site and came across Meggala's site with a listing of wheel and tyre sizes I had forgotten about Meggala's site as he was active on SAU years ago Here is the link: http://meggala.com/wheelsoffsets.htm
  10. What sort of tolerance is there to play with clearances? Thanks for the offset calculator
  11. Thanks for replies So if I get this right, as long as I went for something with an offset in the range of say +35 to +45 (ie 5mm either side of OEM) then this should be okay? ie say 18x8 with +35 should fit The only reason I put the 245/35/18 on there as that is the closest tyre size for rolling diameter to the original sizes All I need now is to find out the offset on the BXM2's
  12. No plans to roll the guards, just lower suspension in due course but nothing too radical
  13. Been looking at some new Enkei rims for the Series II and have narrowed it down to the BXM2 or the RPF1. Having spoken to wheel and suspension people, they have all said that only 17" rims in the BXM2 will fit and the 18" ones won't fit. Haven't been able to find out what the offset is for the BXM2's but did find the sizes for the RPF1's which are: 17x7 +45 17x8 +35 or +40 17x9 +35 or +40 18x8 +35 18x9 +35 The OEM rims are 16x7 +40 with 225/50x16 rubber My understanding is that as far as rolling circumference goes, the closest match would be 17x7 with 225/45/17 or 18x9 with 245/35/18 rubber so the only issue would be rubbing due to offset. Seeking advice on whether the 18's would fit and for those that have 18's what the offsets were (the previous rim and tyre threads mainly talked about tyre sizes and rim width) Pics of the rims attached Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Al BXM2 RPF1
  14. Sorry to hear about the car Kirstie Know what you mean regarding some of the low lifes that are in the carparks including at Whitfords - we were there too in the late afternoon and kept my eye on a few "characters" Hope it won't be too much expensea and hassle to fix up. Cheers, Al
  15. Just from my experience and I did buy from the dealer in question. In relation to the warranty they will include the AWN warranty (3 year) in substitute of the statutory warranty they are to provide - this is what happens as you effectively contract out of it. So if you have any warranty claim (even within the 3 months) you deal with it yourself and AWN to make the claims. Having said that, the AWN warranty can be purchased by anyone so even importing one yourself you can still have the same warranty - costs less than $1,000 from memory. I have already got more than that on the costs of repairs to date - coilpacks, radiator, water pump, etc I won't make any other comments on the dealership concerned in a public forum. Cheers, Al
  16. Hope you are okay Rob and all that was damaged was the car Best wishes
  17. Same as Dale, if price is reasonable will be interested Have you get any more photos of the actual dashmat for the Stagea?
  18. Spotted yellow Stagea going through the lights at Joondalup Dve and Ocean Reef Rd (just in time before the red light) - was in mine and gave a wave but probably didn't get seen (or just ignored !!!) Cheers, Al
  19. I too would be keen on something like this
  20. Never seen one and when I asked the manufacturers of some (Protectomat) they said they did not feel there would be sufficient demand for them so they had no intention of making any for Stageas. They will only make if they will sell sufficient numbers to recoup costs.
  21. Spotted 3 Stageas in the space of 10 minutes - getting common now !!! One is a white Series 1 near Baby on a Budget in Joondalup - owned by the manager there. Then as we drove from there, saw a green Series 1 heading West along Ocean Reef Rd near Woodvale, then an awesome white Series 1 with a great body kit stopped at the lights turning right from Wanneroo Rd into Ocean Reef Rd - this was all around 2:00pm today
  22. More people may not be able to make it during the long weekend if they go away for the break - not much happening in February. More chance of me going in Feb as our 2nd child is due any day now, so the longer the better - but I am merely one of many
  23. Nice work John and a good rare colour with lots of goodies too Good luck with it Cheers, Al
  24. January would suit me better too as new baby (as in the human kind not the car kind) due in mid-December
  25. Thanks Everyone for the meet and was a shame couldn't make it on the actual cruise so maybe next time. Was good to finally meet everyone and convert a few more people to the Stagea. Some pics Cheers, Al
