  1. Sydney Kid-- I have a link ECU which is tunable to anything I like, I am running some turbo with double the airflow of a standard one (going by compressor outlet size) and a supra IC. My dyno tune registered 106rwkw in top without a fan at 16psi. I would expect more power and less pressure on the road as you get cool air actually running over the IC. I also have a 3" mandrel bent exhaust although I am skeptical of the cat size. I also have a BOV running at 16.5 psi post IC. So what I want to know is with these mods what is the max KW at a max safe pressure and what would that safe pressure be? Thanks BTW, I have read some of your previous posts so I think I can trust your opinion on this
  2. He does it to simulate worst case scenarios for street cars IE 42 degrees start stop traffic on a freeway, but it doesn't help the wank factor of having some big bollocks number as your RWKW. The problem was that the turbo blew up, I had to get a new one and then I was short a few parts because I bought something different than I thought it was... etc It had to have some major head work done too as it had lots of bits of turbo gone through it. So I am not complaining.

  4. I use to have an L28E from a Z with a 2.25" zorst on an MR30 sedan. It wasn't as my HR30 quick by any stretch of the imagination but the snappy torque and the 6500 redline were great, until I blew it up because of a dodgy oil pick up I had installed
  5. What is the max boost you can run on a standard RB20DET that DOES NOT have a ceramic turbo. Pretend you had the greatest IC,BOV Wastegate and turbo you could fit. How much boost could you run before the motor internals would shit itself. Please do not mention the standard turbo I don't have one of those anymore and it is not an RB25 unit either. So please just focus on the internals as I could run easy 18psi but I don't want it to go bang.

  7. 106rwkw at 5000rpm at 16psi apparently this is as much as a hotted up 5ltr HSV (cam exhaust, cold air) on his dyno. It was run in 5th gear. This is a crap figure so you know I am not lying. There was no fan so the IC wasn't working (does that make sense.) I have also had fitted a BOV that is set to 16.5psi, the turbo I got is not ceramic so it will go to 18psi. Does anyone have a comment on how what dyno figures really mean.....?

  10. we make copper head gaskets at my work but they aren't cheap and done on as required basis and you have to specify the material and thickness and how much bigger you want the bore holes. A sample gasket or proper drawing would be needed (or even better a cad file) Oh yes it is quoted and then upfront payment required and there are no guarantees. Tempting isn't it
  11. There is no room in mine for belt fans, good thing too as I don't want it to sound like a wheezy old falcon six. I'll post pics when I get it back. I was pretty sure an RB20DET can poo poo all over an RB30ET because the RB30ET couldn't rev as hard. (I might be wrong)
  12. SR20 can come with a six speed box. Don't think you can get one with an RB20.

  16. I haggled the turbo down to $350 because of it from jay.r33 . My mechanic told me the same thing, I feel like a bit of a prick now.
  17. and when is shaft play too much that a turbo needs a rebuild?
  18. I can't go because my turbo shat itself and I haven't been able to get it fixed.
  19. Just got the call, turbo is totally rooted, the mechanic told me to stay away from getting another one. He also said to get an RB25 which should run 15 psi or get mine rebuild with a VL turbo Impeller which can flow 450hp. But that would cost $1500 which I don't have. I think I'll get the RB25 turbo.

  22. Been offered some parts. I put an add in the WTB section and I have 2 options from that. Apparently on Daves Silvia page he quotes a magazine articly that states the turbo is good for 1.2bar or 17 psi. Mine wasn't running anything near that and the mechanic said it is a bushing not the bearing that crapped itself as it is a ball bearing unit. The turbo was still spooling up around 10psi when the motor was running crap so it probably isn't too bad. I will modify the wastegate to run higher boost too because the bushing screwing up was probably causing the heat in the turbo. Anyway, we'll see when I get the car back. I also had the rev limiter at 6800, I am going to change it up to the factory setting of 7500 so I can hopefully get a 0-100 down from 6.1seconds to something in the 5's
