  1. my 31 diff whined, as they do, especially after a number of skidpan days. used synth fluid and some diff addative (lucas i think) from supercheap, and it was sweet. addative is cheaper than a new diff. I had a 2nd hand reconditioned LSD centre put into my 31 for $500. just keep a spare diff on hand.....
  2. its worth getting the 25 box I reckon. as above 1. easier 2. resale 3. stronger my 20det box blew after 300km with 233rwkw from a 25det.
  3. I'll be talking to actual machine shops about this, but would like to get the opinions of some here as well. RB30 Bottom end. Would be using 25DE pistons, so no piston costs. Stock rods. Stock crank. Do Rings and bearings......but what else? Just needs to be fresh and ready for a low hp application. What would you recommend doing, and has anyone does a little freshen up rebuild like this? If so, costs? Any experiences with brisbane based workshops? Would deal direct with the person doing the machining/assembly.
  4. Corvette. which will give you more pleasure in owning/building/driving - vette.
  5. turbo pro's - the power. which doesnt really come on till youve got a few revs on board. better brakes. cons - more things to go wrong. they are pretty slow, so if you do get yourself into trouble, then you don't have the maturity/car control to be driving anything decent. A BA falcon has more power than a turbo 32. non turbo pros - easy to drive, balanced, insurance, less things to go wrong. cons - resale, small brakes (won't be an issue unless you are doing trackdays or if you are a hard braker and doing mountain runs. who cares about dragging your brothers WRX off from the lights. its not a dîck measuring competition. enjoy driving, and use driving courses/trackdays/skidpan days to be the best/safest driver possible.
  6. good. that means they will be worth less as the market for them is smaller. they are everywhere! original post edited....
  7. Looking for a 94+ R33 GTS non turbo manual. Coupe or sedan doesnt matter. Must have under 100,000km. If you have one, or know of one, reply here please. EDIT: After recieving details of a car via pm..... I am a cash buyer with $ ready to go, but I am not desperate, and will not go older than 94. The newer the better.
  8. have you pulled the front wheels off yourself and checked them over thoroughly for something that could be making the noise? nail in tyre, something stuck to tyre etc
  9. John, in response to your original thread - i dont think (99.9999% sure) you will get 150rwkw with those mods. maybe with a nos shot. if you do, its the worlds best RB20DE.
  10. james can you please send me your phone number via pm re: bottom end. thanks.
  11. hi james. any wear/damage to the 26 bottom end? where is the 26 gear located (suburb?) thanks.
  12. i drove a freshly built 180 that wasn't mine with no wheel alignment done, no suspension tuning, and azenis on the back @ QR, and it wasn't too bad. the rear felt very stiff, and it had around 220rwkw. could be more to do with your suspension setup, and front/rear balance - but a good alignment is also a must. you drifting on a track or "somewhere else?"
  13. stocko turbo gear would be fun. quite reliable setup. throw fmic and exhaust on, it would be pretty sweet. fairly smooth and torquey. rb30et - more parts, more possible issues rb30e worked - less hp, but less things to go wrong.
  14. sweet, really after the cam as well though.
  15. could just be pinging? get some guys who know engines to have a listen.
  16. sandyb - my 31 had koni/whiteline suspension all round, swaybars, strut brace, strut tops, etc etc, and a custom R32 GTSt brake setup front and rear. With the RB30E it was fun. I could give it full bikkies all the time, corner on the limit and play with it, it was a driving car. add a 233rwkw RB25DET that comes on very hard at 4-4500rpm, and try to exit a 2nd gear corner hard, and things get very tricky. Revs have to be right, and if they are, you have to be very careful about feeding the power on. if the revs arent right, it just does nothing then goes berko when boost comes on. not fun, not easy. Great for straight line stuff and torching the rears, but not as a mountain/time trial car, which was my scene. do the basic cheap mods to the RB30E, have some fun, concentrate on brakes/suspension because my god they need it. i didnt spend any money on more hp for the first 4 years, but was always quickest in the time trials at mt cotton vs 33 GTS-t's etc - power isnt everything.
  17. standard rb25det exhaust cam and gear wanted. pref brisbane, but shipping ok.
  18. jeez vash, dont like doing anything yourself hey.... maybe try www.r31skylineclub.com ??? start with cam, headwork, exhaust, tune, adv timing, 98 octane fuel, air intake and weight reduction. still have to buy the exhaust (unless your dad can make it) and extractors, cam, and probably and adj cam, along with paying for an ecu tune and dyno time. i wish i had done that instead of putting a 313rwhp RB25DET in my 31, would have been a lot more fun. how much you got to spend? doesnt matter if your dad is a mechanic, if you buy a $5000 part for him to put on, it still costs $5000.
  19. hey teoh, auto/manual, how many kms, how long have you had it, when was it imported, interior condition, ac cold? would like to see some more pics if possible.
  20. make an offer, want this stuff out of my garage, have to fit 2 cars in there!
