  1. fairly common with skylines. i just replace one in my maxima, and now another one is slowly dying. figuring out which coil is stuffed.....thats fun.
  2. in R31's, you need to modify the tailshaft to fit the rb25det box, not sure about the gearbox crossmember. could end up being a bit of stuffing around. might be a better idea to buy an RB25 box, even if its an NA one, because the resale will be fine and it will bolt straight in.
  3. er, its called an RB30E eug...... feels torqueir than a 25de, but has absolutely nothing up top. hah. your 30de obsession has melted your brain
  4. Got a manual RB20DET gearbox for sale. Lost 3rd gear while accelerating. Has all other gears and drives car but if you select 3rd the car has no drive. Probably good for a project box or for spares. $100 ono Brisbane, QLD. slip

    101 Motorcafe?

I would be using matty spry from PITS on the gold coast over paul masterson/motec qld/stafford tune (all same) after my experience. weeks and $$$ @ motec. Bad experience with stafford tune, big drama. PITS diagnosed in 20secs over the phone, although others have had good experience with Stafford Tune.
  6. er double post Speco Guages - just bought them, have done about 2hrs work. Made an alloy panel which housed water temp/oil pressure, can include. Tacho $50. Oil pressure + 2m braided line with fittings $50 (paid $50 just for the braided line). Water temp with hose adapter $50. SILHOUETTE INTERIOR - Missing drivers lower B pillar garnish, drivers A pillar garnish, parcel shelf. There is 1 front seat as I had a bucket seat in the car, use as drivers or passengers. $250. GTS1 Momo steering wheel. Very rare, and beautiful to drive with. Leather not in the best nick, could use as is or recover. Comes with original nissan horn garnish, lightweight boss and cover. $200. (nissan horn garnish not in the pic) I sold my $400 aftermarket Momo wheel to use this one instead, much better size and shape. Cat back 3" exhaust with muffler to suit aus R31 sedan. Muffler has removable baffle. With baffle in it has a nice note, doesn't drone, and probably legal dB. Baffle out would be fun. Slight damage to muffler tip. $250 (which is about what the muffler cost) S3 Series III tail lights and centre panel. Some cracks in passenger side plastic, visual but doesnt leak water, always been like that. $150ono
  7. powdercoat the enkeis charcoal/bronze/something cool ? as it stands - 5zigen. depends what you value more - looks or performance, and wether a 2.5kg difference per corner is more valuable and noticeable than wheels and the major effect they have on the cars image.
  8. you know the wing sucks. get rid of it. then see how you like the car.
  9. i think you should match it a bit more to your rear bar, with a more solid angled bottom lip, and maybe less little holes for a cleaner, more balanced look to give you more cohesion. another suggestion would be to bring the black paint from the front edge of your C pillar back along the rear qtr panel to just above the rear taillights to give a nice solid look. it looks a bit separated at the moment, that may give it a more flowing, smoother look. would be easy to photoshop (or get someone to) for a look. car looks sweet though man, orange and black, very nice.
  10. yeah you'll get documents saying that the car is yours, but at our yard in qld we didn't include the rego papers - which is often impossible if youve bought it wholesale, and sold it on while it had rego the whole time.
  11. depends on the feel of the 'miss' as well. if its a quick cutout and cut in i would lean toward ignition, but a softer surging feeling id lean towards fuel.
  12. i just had a misfire in the maxima (coil on plug) and took it to nissan for ecu diagnostic. knock sensor came up as only error - but i was 99% sure this was not the error. misfire was occuring low revs, load, and mainly when engine at full operating temp. was a dead/dying coil. could be an avenue to look down.
  13. have a look at what MELV used to have on his GTR from memory, it was pretty sweet. i would look at some le mans, and other various race R33's and see what sort of inspiration you can get. You might just use part of a race car paint scheme - this can work really well on ford/holden with V8 supercars as inspirations.
  14. that might be even better if you're not worried about handbrake strength. i was keen to do a bit of drifting and the commo handbrakes would have been useless. if you can get the s13/33 gear on there, let us know, that'd be sweet.
  15. ive driven a tdo6 rb20det - motor was stock, maybe some cams. stock manifolds, everything. adaptor plate onto stock exh manifold. it was nasty, didnt hit boost till really late, then came on really hard. nasty, but fun. definately much better choices out there.
  16. commodore drum handbrake custom'ed on, with of course everything else custom. but they are CRAP. i really think there must be a better handbrake drum setup that could be easily adapted off another borg warner car. hsv rotors, which were not cheap, but slotted/vented, didnt want solid.
  17. when i put the big brakes on my 31, the std DBA slotted rotors lasted a couple of months, and then upgraded to 4000series. And that was for mountain work, so it's not just you. At that diameter, youd need at least 4000series DBA, but i really think you need bigger diameter 4000series minimum. I'd go with that idea, dogbone it, same calliper, bigger and better disk, see what happens. have you figured out the rear handbrake setup with 32 callipers on there? let me know if you need help.
  18. i give up. youre trying to apply the terminology in a scientific way that doesnt adhere to the automotive world and its use of the terminology. getting caught up on technical meanings of words an applying them in irrelevant fashions - its impossible to have a discussion when you are talking a different language and trying to skew everything on technicalities of definitions. i could say that an engine doesnt breathe at all because breathing is something done by living creatures. but that would just be silly. plus, your tank/street air doesnt make any sense. seriously. the pressure of the air is the entire point, not wether it comes through a tank or a straw - same as it doesnt make a difference if an engine breathes through a carby or an EFI system with variable length intake runners. im out, cant convince you if you dont undertsand the language/concepts.
  19. sweet. i think the bridgestone semi slicks were only 300 a pop for the 16x8 225/50/16. any idea what semis in that size go for?
  20. i do, an i know that nitrous is not a fuel, and is generally classed on the forced induction side of things in motorsport. Putting nitrous in does not "force" more air through the induction tract. It adds an accelerant to the airstream, but does not pressuries the inlet charge into the plenum. NA NA + NO2 FI FI + NO2 therefore NO2 is not FI. It's an additive/accelerant. Put a boost/vac guage on a nitrous NA motor and see if it starts reading 10psi. It won't, because air is not being physically forced through the intake system under pressure, it is still relying on the same things as every other NA motor to 'pull' air into the cylinder. (thats very simplified, i know, but the whole point of this is very simple)
  21. generally with tyres you have grip, cost, longetivity pick 2. 17x8 and 16x8 (R32 GTR) are good sizes. 235/45/17 has a massive range of tyres, and they are quite well priced due to the massive popularity. call a tyre shop and find out how much for a set of decent tyres. youll have to research what decent tyres are, and it will depend on your taste and intended purpose. you can pick up 17x8 wheels pretty cheap 2nd hand. 225/50/R16 bridgestone semi slicks are cheap - they are a control tyre for a racing class, was going to put these on the 31. (16x8)
  22. guys does anyone know what kind of front bar is on that white 33?
  23. you can grind the nissan off the callipers if its really close. seen that done.
  24. he might just want better looking ones. 4dr lights are different to coupe lights.
