Are Skyline Brake The Same As Wrx Brakes?
slip replied to freshjive's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
try some brake shops. might find they are the same as r32 gtr/300zx/s14 or some sort of subaru as you mentioned. brake shop should have cross reference facilities. -
why dont you guys just get some from the wreckers off another car or something????? its not like they are a new invention.

even if you got 180rwkw out of an rb30de, itd be fun, but a 200rwkw turbo 25 motor would be so much quicker/cheaper/easier using tried and tested parts/methods. ive done things the hard way with my car. yes ive got an extremely tough 31 now, and id happily put it up against any 31 in the country in an allround test of car-ness, but its been a long expensive road. i could have just bought an S14 or something. Would have been so much easier and better value.

BAD EUG. Subs are bad. I've seen the parcel shelf out, its a pretty sweet job. But we all know why Eug is tricky and able to complete such tasks. Now you just have to lower that thing dude. Really, it's not like youre going to landcruiser park anytime soon......

Dude, for a start 15K for an na 33 is too much. You'll be able to get one much cheaper. Do you want a car for the fun of driving? If so an n/a with good brakes/susp/tyres will be sweet. Eug has a GTS with all these things, and its very sweet to drive. 15K should = nicely set up na 33 and heaps of reliable cheap fun. ps. In my experience, having an NA in turbo company can make you a better driver. If you don't drive better than the people around you, they will dissappear. The turbo boys can get away with so much (poor driving, bad lines, braking early etc), because they can just put their foot down on the bits between corners. Keeping up/being faster than turbo guys uphill through the mountains in an NA is a beautiful thing. I could go on for ages about this....

well look at how much people spend on rb25 turbos to get that much power.... All you can do is your best. 25 or 26 head, throttle bodies, internals lightened/balanced/blueprinted, management. you'd really need to talk to nizpro or another experienced RB builder. Look at what M3's are putting out. That is one amazing engine and they are 252kw or something. Good luck getting close to that. what you could do, its just build a good tough fun engine without worrying wether its gonna make 400hp or not. I had a hoot in my 31 when the RB30 was in there, and it was pretty slow. Get the compression right, fat cams, throttle bodies, bit more rpm and have some fun. People get so caught up on numbers. MX5's on paper arent very well specced, but drive one and you have an absolute blast, and thats what its all about.

mt cotton is great for getting comfortable/capable when things go sideways/out of shape. spent over 1k there when I used to organise all the SAU skidpan days. major improvements, 8 days overall i think. the rest (for me) has been just racing bmx, riding motorbikes, and doing a lot of hard mountain driving. this is stupid, irresponsible, and dangerous. There is a certain natural something that people have, but theres also a huge amount you can develop. self control is also a big thing. sometimes the harder you try the slower you go. the fastest times at mt cotton on the skidpan/lvma always looked the slowest. get someone who can drive, and i mean really drive, to go passenger, talk to you, spend time building you as a driver. mega hard to find, but would be good. contact sideline motorsports they may be able to help you out or point you in the right direction if you are serious.

Round 2 - Recommend Me Speakers/sub/amp/headunit
slip replied to slip's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
dont have a budget. budgets and me never seem to work out. -
I've always been in sales so I don't trust the bastards. Got good replies to my previous audio post so lets see how we go with this one (thanks guys) 98 Maxima. Goals, guidelines. Sound quality. (I hate having a big freq gap between the speakers and the sub, that ricey all bass/treb doof setup) No hard work. This includes making parcel shelves, cutting metal, speakers not fitting into factory positions. Relatively low cost - I'm not a big audio guy, I just want a decent system that can play anything from punk to electro chunk and sound nice, not trying to win any comps or turn it up so loud the vibes give me a hard on, but I digress. Don't want shit quality stuff. Head unit, 4ch amp, front splits, rears for fill, sub in box. front splits and sub amped. Head unit - mp3 capable, eq adjustment, time delay adjustability to get sub in line with speakers would be sweet and if it had somewhere to plug an ipod into that would be sweet too. Might be asking a bit much on these last 2 points if keeping cost down? Speakers - something that gives fairly even sound, bit of clarity. Amp - i got no idea, but we arent going for the worlds loudest car, just need to run the sub. being able to adj the point at which the sub operates necessity (i dont know if they all have this function. I can get hold of a new (but about 5yrs old) 12" sub for next to nothing so will just put that in a box. Anyone got brands/models/ideas would be great to hear. Thanks.
-
Putting a stereo in the Maxima. Will be front splits, rear 2-3ways, and maybe a sub. If I run a 4 channel amp, with fronts and sub amped, and rears just off the head unit, will this work. Will the rears get a bit more power as the fronts/sub are amped? Or - will the rears start getting nasty when the volume is up loud (loud where a normal 4 speaker unamped system would be distorting). Dont really want to shell out for 2 amps. are 6x9 rears going to give noticably more bass, and bass range than straight 6's. Yeah they are a wierd shape but are there really gains there? I have no idea about car audio. thanks.

-
jay, doesnt need to be a worker, just needs to fill the hole in the inlet cam cover and have the hose to plenum. if youve got those bits to spare it would be awesome. the bike is off the road now too so im dying to get this thing driveable. it runs now
-
It's been a while. the 31 now runs, but needs an rb25det PCV valve, bung, and hose to the plenum to be driveable, if anyone has them, or can scrounge them from anywhere, would be much appreciated. ps. congrats on the house and the 'new job' squizz later slip.
-
Need the pcv valve, bung, and hose to plenum for an rb25det, the final piece of the puzzle to finish my project. send me a pm if you have one, thanks. slip.

Congrats on the new purchase pete. Looks very clean and tidy. Good to see you back in the scene. My car will be finished in 2-3 months, been off the road for over a year now. Did this setup really pull 240rwkw in your car? My car will probably be for sale when completed. Yes I'm in Sydney.
