What Kind Of Power Are We Looking At With These?
slip replied to broken-arrow's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
id be getting number 2. off him if its a decent price. that turbo, fmic, tuned computer, full exhaust, and enough fuel and youll be having heaps of fun. i dont think an R32 exhaust will fit your S13... Guy in another thread with similar mods just cracked 200rwkw, which is doing well. -
got a full turbo back exhaust or just a cat-back? + same as above posts. Nice power though, nothing to complain about.

Remapping An R32 Ecu Done And Done!
slip replied to secondhandninja's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
He knew what he was doing, and the risk. 200rwkw and a nice smooth curve on an RB20 is the result. Time will tell, but it looks like everything went his way this time. I wouldnt get it done, but congrats on the good result mate, thats a happy RB20. -
you should be able to find an R32 with a decent RB25DET conversion for 20K or less. they go pretty hard. if you start messing with 26's you start messing with $$$$$$$$$$$$. 25 is an easier/cheaper answer, ive just dropped a 25 in my 31 and its wild. Or just get a modded 33 GTST for under 20k. Newer car, bit better put together inside, and they have a 25DET standard.
-
2 that you don't need and are willing to part with, or are you just letting me know your GTR has 2 bovs?
-
well I haven't seen gains like that with an SAFC on a 25DE, I was being car-specific.
-
If so I could use it. It'll be going to a good home. Squizz?
-
Welcome dude. The difference between an R32 GTST and a GTR is pretty big. Everything costs more on a GTR, just getting a workshop to pull the turbos off is NOT cheap. People are spending $$$$ fixing/maintaining 32 GTR's now as they are all over 10yrs old. A GTST is a much cheaper simpler easier car to live with. And slower. But slower doesnt mean less fun. 1. You would have to spend a little coin to get a 20 up to the standard of a 26, but then a 26 with boost/exhaust/fmic/ecu is going to destroy that 20. 2. The 26 will bolt into the GTST. 3. A GTST is lighter, easier to drive (you don't have to get your head around the 4wd system) and would by far be the best option for someone new to the cars with a budget. A 12K R32 GTST will be fun, but it wont be the most sorted package around if you know what I mean.... 4. You should buy my R31. It has lots of power (RB25DET) R32 GTSt brakes that can handle trackwork, and a full aftermarket suspension setup. $10k. No more mods needed, fully developed.

So My Lsd Finaly Blew, Or Atleast I Think?
slip replied to NateR31's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
wierd. the borgs that were on their way out that i've heard have all made metallic noises when turning, or taking off, going round slow corners etc. still sounds like diff though. can you jack it up, run the car in gear, rev it then back off and see if the noise happens then? + specs on car dude. -
Will A Stock Gtr Or Gtst Bov Hold 15psi Reliably?
slip replied to slip's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sweetness. if leewahs can cop it then mine will be fine. thanks dudes. now whos got a stock gtr bov they want to give away? -
itll do bugger all. if you could magically reprogram the ecu and suddenly your car noticably better for racing then that would be so lovely, but if you could make the car that much better with the ecu alone, nissan would have made it like that. itll hardly make your car faster, it probably wont change you laptimes around a track etc. if you don't know that much about cars you probably wouldnt even notice a difference. to get more power out of an na 33 takes money, and you WONT get easy gains like a turbo car. you could put a full exhaust system on and make less power. you might make more. it might stay the same. Turbo it or spend $$$$$ making the RB25DE go harder (still not as hard as a turbo) OR....spend your money on things that will noticably make your car better for "racing", depending on your idea of the term..... (not the red light variety). My meaning would involve actually driving round corners. For an NA 33, in order of how much it will improve your speed. 1. Driver training - skidpans/trackdays/motorkhanas/anything that involvers performance driving with tuition/supervision. That, and developing your understanding of the mechanics/dynamics of a car. 2. Suspension 3. Brakes Helpful note: People that say "you should put a racing chip in it" have no idea, or are making fun of you. And if you are talking to someone who knows cars and you say that your 33 GTS has a racing chip you're going to look like an idiot.

I want to make sure I do this once and do this right. Just got the 31 back with 300+rwhp and 15psi, want to run a recirculating bov, stock style. will gtr or even gtst items hold this easily? yes I did a search but theres just hundreds of useless threads coming up. thanks.
-
Yeah, QR..... Did a drift day there, that was great. Any circuit work I've done there has been infinitely boring. You every take the hr30 out?
-
gimme a number.
-
well i probably should clarify the motorkhana style things we did were sometimes up to 1min long and took up the whole lvma area at mt cotton. no left foot braking or handbrake. tamed my loose style a bit so when i went onto the unforgiving mt cotton hillclimb it was a great help. ps. how good is the mt cotton hillclimb track! you can even crash after the finish line, big downhill braking moves, so many things to hit, awesome. hrd-dr30 look forward to seeing you out at a qld even soon, my 31's almost back from motec. bit OT now.... those that have spent time on QR, do you think it's taught you much?
-
yeah, its motorkhana style, wet/dry, as i said good for finesse/being tidy. definately need to do higher speed stuff as well. but if you think motorkhana events don't help with hillclimbs you're nuts.

russ youll be able to find the bores/strokes on here. may find some head cc chamber sizes too. just do a search.

I Think I Need An Upgrade?
slip replied to hijaked's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
merlin - that is so very wrong. it just means your brakes are working. I could lock up bridgestone s03's with sock r31 brakes. they sucked. i have a setup very similar to shanef above and its a good setup for hard road/timetrial/trackday use. -
nice dude. what compression ratio has that thing got. and what pistons to acheive it, any shaving of head et?
-
hey dondesto, have you thought about doing something to get some fresh air to those pods? an alloy plate probably wont really do much, but it would be interesting to see what someone could come up with.
-
skidpan/lvma days @ mt cotton, and lots of em. rate them very highly. skidpan maybe low speed, but thats perfect, it gives you a chance to understand, experiment, and get comfortable. lvma good for finesse and being tidy to be faster. sideline used to do it but theres a bunch of others now, check in the qld section as there have been dramas @ mt cotton and sideline may not be doing it anymore.
-
dude, if you want to do it, go for it. its a completely sweet idea, will be great to drive, and youll pull chicks with it* i looked into doing it myself but went turbo. would love to see it done. *no you wont, car broad minded persons are the worst.

I Think I Need An Upgrade?

exactly right. just get good pads/fluid/lines. if you are hard on brakes, id get some slotted rotors as well. you can get them anyway, bit more bite and better when charging hard. -
N/a Brakes Compared To Turbo
